Untouchables is definitely one I see Paramount quickly reprinting if Amazon and the rest sell out.

I should probably make sure first. Are these region free titles remaining in print? Or is this a worldwide deletion?

But I wonder about a title like War and Peace for example. I could see that one maybe not coming back into print for a long time, if ever? I'm not knowledgable about these things like many of you are though so I could well be wrong.
This is what I'm struggling with too, trying to guess which ones might go for good or at least a while. I bought a bunch yesterday but circled back around and got Serpico today. Just felt that might be one that could linger. There's a ton of comedies I'd like to get, but most I already have on DVD and would hold off on upgrading for a little while if I can. But, I also don't want to kick myself later too!

Also, one of my local walmarts still had their $5 display up that has a bunch of WB/Paramount titles in it, so it was nice to pick up a handful of titles for cheap.

Yeah, I'll need to pick up El Dorado and Hatari, as well as Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and Once Upon a Time in the West.

I think Universal handle Paramount movies overseas and still are? I'm not sure though, you probably want to ask in the other region forums.

To be clear as well: no one is saying these are all out of print. The Warriors was "out of print" for like a minute and then Paramount just printed more and stocked Amazon and the rest back up. That could easily happen with ALL of these, and I would say definitely will happen with titles like Untouchables, Serpico, etc. The only ones I would worry about are more obscure, less popular titles. Those are ones Paramount might not bother to print again and labels might never license. Stuff like Congo, Paycheck, The Score, etc.

Though I did just buy Serpico "just in case," after Miller mentioned it above.

I’m pretty sure Payback was a joint production with Paramount having US rights and WB having International rights, Paramounts catalog going OOP shouldn’t have any effect on this. Still, might want to pick it up from Amazon.co.uk while you can, just to be sure.

Yeah, I wasn't sure but I thought as a 70s drama it perhaps had less of a chance of being reprinted than a modern or genre film. Who knows if that rationale will make any sense, but maybe it's just a subconscious excuse to myself to rationalize buying more, haha.

For those of us cash strapped folks I wish there was something definitive to look at to see which titles are most likely to be out of print. In almost every post someone adds a title that they need to grab, plus the 5-600 titles on the previous page. Does anyone have confirmation that this is actually happening? Is there a source page to the information for us to read?

Looking around the internet, Snake Eyes is OOP (although the double with Face Off either is not, or is just everywhere and easy to get).

Before the Warner deal, Zodiac, Black Rain, Changing Lanes and bunch of others were OOP, but all came back with the WB distribution deal. I wouldn't be suprised to see most if not all come back with the next deal. Paramount just doesn't want to distribute anything but their A-list titles it seems, that's why the secondary keep going in and out of print.

So grab what you want for now and know you'll more than likely have another chance at anything else down the road. I just got a Snakes Eyes/Face Off just in case I'm wrong. Sucks I had the solo Snake Eyes in hand when it came out, but didn't want to pay over $10 for it. Haven't seen one since, now it's $30+ on amazon and none on ebay at all. Would prefer the single release spine, not a bag fan of Face/Off.

Short of Warner or Paramount issuing a press release I don't think there will be any confirmation. When they signed the deal in 2012 they made a big deal of it. Reports at the time stated it was a three year deal that went into effect January 1, 2013. Because of the lack of an announcement of an extension of the deal and the recent lack of availability of some of the titles, IMO, there is a greater than 50% chance that all 600 films went "OOP" at 11:59 PM on December 31st, 2016. By "OOP" I mean Warner legally lost the right to manufacture any of the titles on the list. But prices only skyrocket when titles go out of STOCK. Only Warner knows exactly how many copies are left, which is certainly annoying but I don't think there is a need to buy a lot of them right this second. There are still cheap copies of the Paramount versions of many of them so I think that should serve as a crude guide for which ones are possibly in danger. And many will be re-released by Paramount. Three came out this month and a Tomb Raider double feature is coming out next month.

Ended up buying these out of fear of missing out:

48 Hours
Escape From LA
Once Upon a Time in the West
American Gigolo
Saturday Night Fever
Naked Gun 1-3

Probably get screwed with cheaper/better re-releases later, but what can you do. Still looking for a better price on Airplane 1&2 before buying, though.

Good post. If you don't have the money to spend I wouldn't rush to buy a ton of stuff. Like I said above, Paramount or their new partner could quickly print more of ALL these like they did The Warriors, or license them out for better, newer versions. There's just a slight concern they might let some slip through the cracks. With stuff like Snake Eyes out of stock there is some concern Paramount or their new partner might not see any value in printing another thousand. Or they might do it immediately. Hard to know for sure.

Just as a general FYI, 48 Hours basically looks like a DVD. One of the worst BD upgrades out there IMO. Sure it shows some minor improvements, but if you have the DVD or don't need it right away you might want to wait and see if Shout or someone else gives it a new master someday.

Many of those Paramount titles are in abundance at used shops for pretty cheap if you look around. Only a very small % of blu consumers are big enough nerds to regularly follow a site like this to know what movies fall under which studio and what is in or out of print.

That's not good to hear, but I only paid $5 so not much lost at least. Picked some of these up used for cheaper cause I had some PayPal money, at worst I can resell some later I guess.

There are 2 or 3 really sad people out there.

That's not a comment aimed ayou personally, but the film is terrible.

When word gets out something is OOP all the lurkers on here who never post run to Amazon and all the resellers buy up a ton of copies to sell later on ebay for large profits (they hope). That's why things out of print often go quickly out of stock. Not gonna happen overnight but things will start selling out like Snake Eyes.

However again, to be super clear, Paramount could easily print more like they did with The Warriors. I'm not trying to panic anyone, just saying if you have the cash and want some obscure titles you might want to buy them now just in case. Don't rush to get that ugly Untouchables disc, they'll print more or license it out surely.

Somewhere out there, the person who bought 50 copies of NORBIT, thinking he'd make enough to retire on, is smacking his forehead.

So they probably won't repress, anytime soon, titles like Congo or Jennifer 8, but Norbit, instead... we live in a crazy world, really.
