The rear art indicates 1.78:1, and I know studios can put erroneous information on packaging, but I couldn’t find anything saying differently other than the entry here on the site. I found the thread discussing all of the various releases after you responded indicating the correct ratio. Sorry for the confusion. |

There are two US releases - one released in 2011 (Echo Bridge) and one released in 2015 (Lionsgate). The one Lionsgate released in 2015 has the correct aspect ratio despite the back cover listing 1.78:1. The "user reviews" section confirms the actual ratio is 2.35:1. There are two Canadian released from Alliance (2009 and 2012) that both list 2:35:1 on the back cover but the image is actually 1.78:1. It's a shame these studios are so sloppy to make these kinds of errors - repeatedly! |

All the ones I know of are just re-issues of the EB discs, they even have EB logos playing at start up. The only time this was a good thing was for Godzilla vs Biollante, where the LG discs were at least the corrected audio versions (it was hit or miss on the EB discs). Of course that was only in print from LG for about 24 minutes.

Fox catalog movies from the 2000s that weren't blockbusters or cult favorites could be pretty low demand. I picked up a random one from a pile I was going through, "The Longest Week." It was only from 2014 and I'd be surprised if some of these forgotten movies even sell like a hundred copies per year now unless they're in Dollar Tree/Dollar General, etc. A lot of the teen comedies from the 2000s seem like they could never be reprinted as well.

Is the Roar blu-ray from Olive Films OOP? I CTRL + F'd the first page of the thread and didn't see it mentioned. I also tried searching this thread with just the key word of "roar" to see if any posts come up and nothing came up. I know Olive Films can be really weird with their stock and out of stock doesn't always mean totally out of stock for them, but this one seems impossible to find anywhere except eBay. And Amazon, which says "temporarily out of stock" so I placed an order there just in case because I really want to see this movie. Does anyone know if this is just temporary or if it's for sure gone?

For anyone who wants to try, I've noticed a bunch of these OOP Lionsgate blu-ray movies keep randomly popping into stock (or at least "temporarily out of stock") on Amazon brand new for good prices (between $9.99-$14.99). Don't get your hopes up TOO high -- I did just get my Cold Mountain blu-ray order cancelled from Amazon just now which stings because I skipped out on a brand new copy that popped up for $17 on Amazon that I didn't get because I thought I'd get it from Amazon. Lesson learned, lol.
Doubt they'll actually happen but having it there in case it does doesn't hurt any. Thus far I've put in for Chasing Amy, Velvet Goldmine, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, and Cold Mountain (obviously cancelled). I recommend adding them to a wishlist and checking, along with anything else OOP you may have interest in. I've noticed Amazon getting a lot of OOP stuff in brand new randomly. Sometimes I wonder if they just have this stuff sitting in a corner in a warehouse and they randomly find it and list it... |
