Equilibrium Gangs of New York Kill Bill Vols. I & II No Country for Old Men Pulp Fiction Trainspotting Some of these are still in-stock at some retailers - but they are for all intents and purpose OOP, so once stock dries up they're gone. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is a Miramax title distributed by Lionsgate. For whatever reason it was the one movie when they took over distribution rights that retained that early ugly Disney BD cover scheme. If you're looking for any of these, Bull Moose still has a few left. I picked up Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vols. I & II, From Dusk Till Dawn, Trainspotting, and No Country for Old Men all with UV copies (still redeemable on Vudu) for $9.96 a piece and no tax. |

Paramount won the bidding war for Miramax titles in September of last year. I'm sure eventually it'll be back in print, but given their only real dedication to catalog titles is their "Paramount Presents" line I don't see it any time soon.

Oh yeah. I had a brain fart and thought it was all Lionsgate going OOP, forgot it just the Miramax section and now that I'm thinking about it, I can't name one of those in 4K either.
![]() My bad. They say there are no stupid questions, but I shall continue to test that theory now and then. ![]() |

Jay & Silent Strike Back was originally put out by Disney / Buena Vista, then re-issued through LG when they started the distribution deal. Everything stayed the same except the cover lost it's inner print. Same thing with the Kill Bill films and a few others. Thankfully Disney's Kill Bill's didn't have that ugly cover banner, or the LG discs probably would too. I don't think they did new covers for any of the pre-existing discs, just changed the UPC, cut the inner print, and sent em back out.

The Brothers Grimm was initially released with the Disney scheme, but was reissued with new art a few years later. I at first thought just J&SBSB was the only title to retain that atrocious art, but the first Scary Movie carried over as well. Echo Bridge initially released The Grifters, but Lionsgate reissued that with new art for some reason. Aside from those I think everything else was just carried over. Welp this thread just scared me into a spending spree. Picked up No Country, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill 1&2, and Gangs of New York on eBay.
I can’t imagine the Tarantino will stay OOP, but didn’t want to risk spending the rest of my life with DVD copies of those movies. Too bad I slept on Jackie Brown, couldn’t find that anywhere at a decent price. |

Looks like they're selling out fast. When I initially made my response an hour or so ago, they still had Clerks, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, From Dusk Till Dawn, and Transpotting in stock. Now they're sold out. Hope I didn't tip off any scalpers. ![]() These are the Lionsgate Miramax titles they have left for $9.97 (Bull Moose orders aren't subject to sales tax outside the state of Maine): Amazon still has: Gangs of New York is the proper remastered version. Keep in mind that this release of Equilibrium is just a reissue of Echo Bridge's botched 2011 release, which is in the wrong aspect ratio and possesses a watered down DTS-HD 2.0 track. The best stateside release of it is in the OOP Miramax Multi-Feature: High-Powered Action Pack Blu-ray release which can be had used for pretty cheap. Imagine there's a lot of motivation to put out all the Lionsgate Tarrantinos and No Country for All Men on 4K. Paramount's very unpredictable, but I gotta think at least the BDs will back as soon as Paramount imaginably would given their unreliability.
From Dusk Till Dawn was Echo Bridge too. Am I right to assume the Lionsgate verison is the same transfer? Got the impression The Grifters is probably the same transfer, though I haven't seen the Echo Bridge version. EDIT: When I said "Lionsgate Tarrantios," I just meant Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bills, maybe Reservoir Dogs. Jackie Brown's not coming back -- think it was OOP pre-COVID -- unless a boutique label's able to license it. Last edited by noiradelic; 05-25-2020 at 02:28 AM. |

Unfortunately, given the catalog releases from their own film library are pretty much delegated to the Paramount Presents line and MOD, it wouldn't surprise me if most of these wound up as some sort of MOD release down the road. Makes me question why they bid on the distribution deal to begin with. Quote:

I assumed this was just a re-package of the 2011 Echo Bridge release, but the fact that it has DD5.1 means they re-authored the disc with not only the wrong ratio but the worst possible audio. Sounds like a mish-mash of the 2011 video and the Double Feature audio. This is even worse than any of the Echo Bridge releases. Well that blows. Last edited by clortho; 05-25-2020 at 02:40 AM. |
