Does anyone know if the Mill Creek re-releases of the Sony OOP titles are the same transfer, etc? Thanks!

I know Last Action Hero was reduced in quality to fit on a single layer BD. Not sure about the rest off the top of my head. Hollow Man still looks good but might have been similarly reduced to fit on one layer.

They are usually the same transfer but with Mill Creek's inferior compression encodes. Mill Creek always shrinks a release to BD-25 when they can get away with it.

The audio in the Mill Creek "Flatliners" release was downgraded to 2.0. Can't speak for their other titles.

Thanks for the replies! I've been trying to get as many of the Sony titles that I would like to have before they get crazy in price and wasn't sure if I would be just as well off getting the mill creek version. Yesterday I managed to find Ghosts of Mars, Basic Instinct 2, Flatliners, Starship Troopers, 30 Days of Night, Thirteenth Floor, Secret Window, Untraceable, Gattaca & Wild Things. All for about $5-$10 each. Keeping my eye out for titles with that silver banner along the bottom!

I think the transfers are the same but audio has been downgraded, and features stripped.

If you mean the ones like Replacment Killers and Hollowman which were on the Mill Creek 2-packs, those are different transfers, as they are different cuts of the movies than the stand alone BD's!

the double feature it came from beneath the sea/20 million miles to earth is only black and white, no more color, audio is 2.0 lossy. Last action Hero, Blue Thunder, Flatliners, Anaconda, Donnie Brasco (Theatrical), all are lossy audio, BD25, and very limited extras if any. Can't really say for the others.

Donnie Brasco must be a new transfer also, since the old Sony disc was only the extended cut and the re-issue is theater.
I think it's safe to say with the exception of different cuts, the OOP Sony discs will be better audio/extras in every case.

These are going extremely fast. Most of the sites I checked last night were OOS. I ordered from Target.com, now also OOS as of this morning. There were still a few on eBay last night for a somewhat reasonable price, but I can't say for sure this morning. I hope my order gets fulfilled as these two have been on my "to buy" list for a while now.

OOS means? I know OOP is out of print.

Okay. OOS = out of stock.

Ordered from Deep Discount yesterday due to Amazon being OOS (out of stock) and received an email this morning canceling the order because they are also OOS.

Not interested in those titles myself, but Amazon.ca has some in stock. Also says (more on the way) but I don't know how accurate that is.

Looks like all the eBay copies were either sold or pulled. I checked last night, too, and there were at least 5-10 blu ray copies. I had a weird feeling they wouldn't last, though, so I pulled the trigger on the cheapest one available. Good timing, since I couldn't find any listings on eBay as of this afternoon.
