Indeed, many of these technically OOP titles were printed in such massive quantities that they may not be truly difficult to find for a while, if ever.

What's Up, Doc? on the other hand, is already going for about $60 on eBay, based on completed auctions, and someone is trying to sell it on Amazon for $200.

I am so glad I bought What's Up Doc? as soon as it was released. It is one of those rare comedies that I can watch over and over, and find it just as funny as the first time!

I wonder if What's Up Doc? isn't just moving to the Archive Collection. Hard to believe they'd kill off a popular Streisand movie.

Maybe King Kong, Heat, or LA Confid could eventually get 4K discs?

Heat and LA Confidential moved to Fox, where they also went OOP.

Disney killed the whole 4K line that Fox was working on, according to a member who posted a list of about thirty catalog titles Fox was in active production on at the time. I can't remember for sure if Heat or LA Confidential were among the titles on that list, but I don't think they were.

Always possible with WB. Impossible to predict, however.

I picked up Her for $1 at Dollar Tree. It's OOP status could be the reason.

And it's probably the best deal I got on a Blu-ray.

Heat and L.A.C are owned by Disney now, so they'd have to be the ones to release them on 4K.

It's possible Criterion could rerelease King Kong. They put it out on laserdisc and they've demonstrated that they try to relicense films they've released on laserdisc. And they've been putting out a lot of WB titles in recent years.

Is it that popular? Streisand's popular, but I'm not sure how popular What's Up Doc is among Blu-ray consumers in 2020.

I saw What's Up, Doc? for the first time earlier this year, and I loved it.

My review:

I've never considered Ryan O'Neal a particularly great actor - when I first saw Barry Lyndon, I honestly confused him with Buddy Lembeck from Charles in Charge (the acting was about equivalent!) - but I can't deny that he picks his roles well and is somehow appealing in them despite not being all that appealing himself. In this movie, he plays an uncharismatic bore, which suits him perfectly. Meanwhile, Babs is at her cutest and pitch-perfect as the character who sets all of these events into motion.

It's probably pointless to describe the premise for something so zany and madcap, but I'll try anyway: At a San Francisco hotel, Babs's character takes an unusual interest in Ryan O'Neal, while several guests travel with the same suitcase - and mix-ups and switcheroos ensue all around.

Unless I missed something, Babs's motivations are never explained - she remains a cipher throughout the film - but that ultimately doesn't matter. What really drives the movie are the characters and situations - such as an absolutely amazing chase scene near the end and the hilariously winking final line of dialogue.

DaBargainHunta's Decree: What's Up, Doc? is pure joyful zaniness from beginning to end and an absolute blast to watch.

I'd really hate to think I missed out on the Blu-ray. I have no idea how popular it is in 2020, but hopefully it's reissued by Warner Archive, as others have suggested.

Yes I have, although it has been a while. Bringing Up Baby features a visit to a fictional estate in the Riverdale section of NYC, which is where I live, so that was pleasantly surprising the first time I saw it! It is a fantastic screwball comedy, and What's Up Doc? owes a lot of its inspiration to it, so I will have to revisit it again. Thank you for reminding me!

Yeah, I think it’s popular enough. More than 700 members of this forum own it; over 1300 mostly positive comments on Amazon - that’s well within boutique label numbers. I see far weaker films get released every week, but hey, who am I to judge?

Forgot it was set in NYC (my parents are big fans of the movie so they probably told me when I was a kid). Live in Brooklyn myself (my father grew up in the Bronx).

Just saying it doesn't surprise me that much that vanilla WB let it go OOP. By Warner Archive standards, it's popular!

These appear to be OOP too.

All three have been completely removed from wbshop.com and are only available from third-party sellers at Amazon.

- 1 disc version
- 2 disc version including theatrical cut and assorted swag
There were three copies of the $50 collector's set left at Amazon when I posted this, but it looks like some of you snapped them up, so I edited the post.

Every movie in that sale was OOP or on their way out. Confirmed by MVD.

I would not jump the gun and pay any kind of crazy price for the titles removed from WB shop. They are high profile releases that will get rereleased sooner rather than later.

Anything is possible. But we're living through the death of physical media, accelerated by the pandemic. It's also entirely possible that very few, if any, will ever see a Warner Archive re-release or any other physical release.

It's very much like the mass extinction of Fox titles. Sure, they all might be reissued by Disney someday, but the chances of that seem slim, so I bought all the Fox tiles I had any interest in over the last year or so.

It's all personal choice, but at least knowing which titles are currently no longer being produced, and will soon sell out their existing stock, can be very helpful.
