For anybody seeking 28 Days Later, it is Region A and B in this set. Everything else is B locked in it. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Danny.../#RegionCoding

What’s weird is that “Carrie” has a similarly styled faceplate edition that IS in the site's database. Child’s Play and Jeepers Creepers also have editions in the same style AFAIK.

Same - I think, lol.

I also have this version of the disc bundle which I got at Walmart many years ago - and it came with Instawatch. In addition to the physical discs, I still have the digital HD movies available in MA and Vudu. Also, the case contained a digital code sheet for the 2-movie bundle and as of a few months ago the code still seemed to be valid. (Tested it while logged out at MA.)

I don't really use iTunes but it would be interesting to redeem the code there just in case the movies ever got 4K upgrades (unlikely). However I noticed that iTunes doesn't even have 28 Days Later as an option to rent/buy (only 28 Weeks Later is listed).

If you link your iTunes and Vudu accounts (and any other accounts that can be linked, such as Google Play, Amazon Prime, etc.) to your MA account then whenever you redeem in MA, it'll automatically add the movie to those accounts. Then iTunes will upgrade the 1080p movie to 4K if it's available in that format from them. Even if later the movie is no longer available to buy or rent, you'll still have it in those accounts.

So if you want 28 Weeks Later in 4K, don't redeem the code in iTunes. Just link your iTunes account to your MA account and sell or give the code to someone else.

Rick

That's a recent change, a friend of mine said they bought it there not long ago.

Presumably, the rights ran out some time around the end of 2022, which would be a 20-year license.

Amazon has a few copies left of this, then I think that's it

I believe this is the best region A compatible version of this film. This is a 2K transfer with digital restoration.

Eureka did a region B locked 1080p disc from a 2019 4K Paramount restoration which some like better. Though I heard some also prefer the above release, such as this site's review which claims this release is healthier-looking with less damage than Eureka's. I am not an expert on the film so can't comment

But if you are region A might be worth a go. Possible Paramount could do a 4K UHD in the future since they already have a 4K master, but who knows given the age of this film.

A number of e-tailers which include Amazon, DVD Empire, DeepDiscount.com, Clickii, GRUV, CCVideo.com, and Movies Unlimited do not have in stock the Blu-ray of The Theory of Everything. Just now I checked Walmart, Target, Best Buy, FYE, Barnes & Noble, and Bull Moose and it is the same. What's going on with this title?

Universal owns the film outright, the copyright notice on the packaging says Copyright 2014 Universal Studios.

They let the 2015 BD go OOP once before, they probably just let the 2019 BD go OOP too, due to low demand.

Or they might just be between pressings of the 2019 disc, and retailers may get restocked soon.

I checked Disney Movie Club and 28 Days Later isn't there either. Searchlight Pictures (Fox) was only a distributor for a few countries, hopefully a different company than Disney can get the distribution rights now.

Twentieth Century Fox's Fox Searchlight division distributed the film globally. I don't think distribution was divided up, it's just that Twentieth Century Fox itself had certain local partners in some countries, I think.

The film seems to have reverted back to DNA Films, I'm sure they'll find a new distributor (or distributors) soon.

The digital version was like $4.99 last Halloween and I almost blind bought it but decided it will probably be onsale again soon. Boy was I wrong on that 😂
