Best guess. The prices and still seeing it in stores say if it is, no one cares yet. Next best guess, amazon is out of stock now, but will have it again soon.

I prefer to buy my movies in the good ol' US of A.

USA! USA! USA!

(I'm joking, BTW. Of course I didn't pay $75 for this movie...or any other.)

On this site. If someone said they paid $200 for a movie, I'd believe them There are some wackos on here.

It has better compression, not very noticeable in motion, especially if you're invested in the movie and not actively seeking it out.

Some have bought the Criterion of The Third Man for close to that amount.

There's also plenty of banding on the U.S. disc, which was rectified on the DE disc.

Whatever, when I looked at the caps I didn't see that much of a difference, nothing I would seriously notice while watching the Blu-ray. In one really bright cap there was practically no difference at all. It's the recommended copy, but I don't think you're missing out if you have the U.S. disc.

Is this some Emperor's New Clothes BS? The difference in those caps is minuscule at best.

This is what I mean, Goof. You swear by a release that looks definitively slightly better in one cap while not praising something with more substantial improvements throughout (Shout's Invasion of the Body Snatchers).

You're sort of paying $150 to keep it, in a way, since you could sell it for that but instead hold on to it. That's how I think about it when I own an OOP disc, anyway.

Shout's Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a slight improvement especially in colors. However, there are some aspects of the MGM release that I prefer. Is that Shout disc worth the $21 they want for it? No. Will I eventually buy that disc? Sure, when they lower the price.

If my posts and opinions bother you so much then don't read them.

Fair enough on the Shout disc.

I just feel the need to clarify any exaggeration or misinformation. It's just disagreement my man, no need to shut down the discussion.

Just setting the facts straight is all. The improvement may be marginal, but the fact still stands that the DE has better PQ due to a much higher bitrate. If you don't think the DE disc warrants an import then don't buy it.

Sure, it's better, fine. I do think it's unclear beyond that first cap, but one would assume that it's technically better, it's just not reasonably visible.

I'm content with my U.S. disc. I don't have any plans to buy the DE disc (I did say it's the recommended edition btw) but I can still argue the difference, which I feel is minimal. This is a forum for discussing that sort of thing, though not the appropriate thread so I'll stop.
