Whether PSN is up or not, "fun" time with my girlfriend always takes precedence over gaming, always! In fact, she takes precedence over anything in my life, really

As far as the PSN network is concered, I can patiently wait it out. It'll be back up when it's up. I'd rather they take it down to prevent identity theft, than leave it on and risk consumers' safety.

Nah. The Amazon cloud outage was an internal booboo.

No one knows for sure unless they are involved directly.

There’s a chance the outage could be related to the current crop of issues occurring at Amazon’s Web Services data centre, but obviously that’s just speculation on our part. Seems like a mighty coincidence that major websites using Amazon’s storage services should be affected on the same day that the PSN goes down, however.

No one knows for sure. It could be Anonymous. It could be they updated the software on their servers and it crashed, ISP issues, etc.. I wonder if there will be a peak in unwed teenage mothers 9 months from now, lol.

So is that the reason behind PSN being down?

I havent been able to keep up with news over last few weeks . last i heard Anonymous were planning protests in Sony stores, did that actually happen?

How do they "want us to think it was Anonymous"? Have they said anything at all to suggest this?

I agree. Too much speculation going on, and unless one of us is willing to admit that they honestly work for Sony or Anonymous and admit as to what's going on (shyeah right), I'd stick with the one fact that at this point is valid: the PSN is down.

Alright i'm having this same problem. Everything worked fine yesterday when i was watching dvd's. I came home from work this morning and none of my controllers were responding. I turned my system on and the controller i had hooked up charging worked but it won't work wirelessly. i tried unchecking the Auto signin and it still no change. is there another way to turn off the auto sign in or any other assistance out there. Help please

i somehow think this is related to GeoHotz and what happened to him. people are pissed and they are teenage bums......they have no social life and somehow hacked sony.

as much as i dont like being able to play online (i never play offline), ill survive.
unlike most bums, videogames arent my life, they are something i may or may not do in my free time. i have a woman & 2 kids to worry about rather than if PSN is working.

that being said, im also thinking sony may try using this as a way to compare psn to xbox live and now start charging EVERYONE $$$ on some bs like "we need to upgrade our security blah blah blah"

There are reports that the system is down due to the introduction of two new games.

Highly doubt this. If this was the case, the network would crash EVERYTIME a new CoD comes out.

It's something bigger than a game launch issue. Just before it went down I went to check out the store and it was spamming me with popup messages saying my attempt to add funds to my wallet from a credit card failed.

I never tried adding f-all.

If this had happened before Anon I wouldn't have thought twice. But giving an actual timetable on a problem when you say you don't know what's wrong is not very smart.
Whether it's just a coincidence or not, I believe it was just after the attack that I started having issues with PSN. So, despite PSN going down for everyone yesterday, PSN has been having issues for a lot longer than that. Even the Sony support guy I talked to on the phone said it had basically been down since the 14th and it was just a crapshoot as to whether it worked for someone or not. So, my guess is that they finally had to take it completely down to fix it / diagnose it.

Of course, I guess it could be two different problems completely. One being the spotty/unreliable PSN access that has been going on for a while and another being a more major issue that occurred yesterday or very recently causing the need for PSN to be taken down.

It also didn't sound like the timetable was definitive (to me anyway) and sounded more like a company trying to minimize the backlash of people being upset. Do you think they're going to come out and say, we're not sure what the issue is and it might take a week or two to resolve it or are they going to say, we think it's a problem we can get fixed in a day or two?
