I just hate doubledipping on movies that already made a trillion dollars, that's just moneygrabbing to me.

And in all fairness:

Boycot regular version = low sales
low sales = smaller possibility of awesome special edition.

That's how I see it. It's a great movie, I'd rather buy this 10 times than 1 copy of Transformers.
I don't agree with that. I am more concerned with people having interest in License to Drive (1988). They can put Transformers on the shelf right next to an Inspector Gadget (1999) DVD for the kids to watch.

Almost December and I have still not seen a better movie than Drive this year. Tree of Life is close. Hoping to see The Descendents at some point though.

How well 'Drive' fares during awards season will impact the likelihood of a special edition. (In my case, I'm not waiting--this is a Day 1 purchase for me.)

Day 1 purchase here. This was by far the best film I saw this year, no Hollywood crap came close.

Best soundtrack of 2011 also goes to Drive imo.

Opening credits + Nightfall track = perfection.

That kicks serious ass without a doubt. Great movie. I'm giving this release a rent and waiting for Refn's special edition down the line. Waiting is going to be very difficult, however.

I missed this, as none of the cinema's in my area were showing it . I really want to see it. It reminds me of the old "Driver" games, would I be right in saying that?

I've never played the Driver games, but the film does remind me of GTA. It's like a mixture of Vice City, San Andreas and IV.
It's the setting of San Andreas(streets of LA) with the stylings of Vice City(very 80s style soundtrack and the opening titles are in pink "handwriting") with the more serious dramatic story and atmosphere of GTA IV. It's also got nice cars, gorgeous women and hyper violence which the video games are quite infamous for.
It's almost like a really good video game film, except it actually qualifies as being the best film I've seen all year.

I'm not so sure about that. Refn admits to being a "blu-ray fanatic" in the same statement in which he mentions the proposed Queen edition. He strikes me as the exact type that would make the utmost effort to follow through with a proposed special edition, schedule permitting. It sounds a lot like Avatar extended/Watchmen UC to me.
