Yep, that's exactly how the director Refn described it, like a Grimm fairy tale.

I know people are quick to mention movies like A Serbian Film or The Human Centipede movies when they talk about disturbing movies but I felt this movie was by far the most disturbing, sick, unnerving movie I've seen in a very long time. The former movies I mentioned lack this disturbing quality because the violence is so cartoonish.... But drive is a visceral punch to the gut.

That being said, what a great movie it's definitely one that will stick with you long after you're done watching it.

[Show spoiler]And I wasn't aware Albert Brooks could be so frightening
forget about Christopher Plummber, give this award to Albert Brooks! Oh wait, he's not even nominated! Never mind
Attaching two people to others *******s isn't disturbing? It's not cartoonish, if anything, it's just psychotic. Drive is just more of a realistic story.

Yeah, I watched the extras after posting and saw where he said that. I wish there was a commentary track.

My point being that those films are so unrealistic in their display of violence. I find the more realistic sorts of violence (like in drive) far more disturbing and compelling. I hope you didn't read that as a knock on the film. It was meant to be a compliment.

Cartoonish, not in the sense of Saturday morning cartoons but in the over the top nature of the violence...

Movies like human centipede don't stay with me once the movies over. Drive did..... So that's a testament to how effective the movie is.

I saw some guy at Megacon dressed as Driver, but he pulled it off. Slender/trimmed physique, similar jeans, toothpick and even the personality down; one worded each time we said great costume.

Drive soundtrack to be released on vinyl by Mondo

Looks like there will also be another limited-edition poster drop for the film, too. I'm glad the LPs won't be limited, as I think I can convince myself to get it even though I've already got the CD, pending price. And as I understand it things go real quick when they drop on this site.

I want the vinyl record as well!!

Watched this with a friend for the 4th time last night...although it was DVD quality since my blu-ray player was not available

and for anyone who wants a digital copy, I have the ultraviolet one from the US and the canadian version that is on itunes if anyone is interested

Me too, my favorite being the 7th. It's definitely one of those movies where just about every frame of the film could be made into a cool picture/poster.

The last one is my favorite but it's sorta like a spoiler since it's his "full" transformation.

5th time for me (3 theaters, 2 BD) and it doesn't age. Nothing will top your first time around as far as gut reaction, but you're entranced by it all the same. I hope we will see a wide release of Refn/ Goslings next this year!

Gotta say Drive is my favorite movie too. I've "only" watched it three times, but I have to agree with Abdrewes and Awesome Sauce. It just becomes more and more interesting/enchanting/visceral.

Yeah this is the one BD I have to play LOUD. Its impossible to talk about Drive without saying it sounds and looks incredible: Door sounds, motor sounds, it deserved it's Oscar nom!
