Some people are making distinctions between overhyped movies and overhyped blurays. This i don't understand, because movie preference is highly, highly subjective, whereas PQ/AQ on bluray releases are only slightly subjective. I mean there are guidelines and generally accepted criteria and standards that most A/V reviewers adhere to. Grain, how much sound is coming out of the rears and other preferences not withstanding, I think the OP is referring to the actual movie content/payoff vs. the preceeding hype and kudos said movie received.

That being said, almost every "blockbuster, summer, action, hit" is a big steamy turd, except Dark Knight.
Oh, the irony.

300, I Am Legend, Rocky 5, No Country for Old Men(confusing, boring, and way overrated. I don't know how people thought it was a great movie), Borat (very few funny parts), Blades of Glory, Lord of The Rings, Spiderman 3. I can't think of too many others now. I didn't really know I didn't like these many movies.

Even Live Free or Die Hard? That's surpisingly one of my favorite movies.

Come on. It wasn't bad. In fact, it was pretty good. Not awesome but pretty good.

Default Rats!

Ratatouille.

Everybody here gushed about it, I thought it sucked tiny rat nuts. Took me 5 different days of slugging my way through it a few chapters at a time to finally finish the damn thing, and I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

But then again, I love 2001, Blade Runner, and The Life of Brian, so what do I know?

It was OK, but I wasn't expecting No Country For Old Men or anything.
Couldn't pass it up.

If the Mob movies didn't exist, these pinheads would have had no template to grow up with. But now - I got a friend of mine that used to sit around the bar at night playing nothing but Frank Sinatra on the Jukebox, and toasting "One fa' Fraaaaaank!" every time a Sinatra track came on, and talking about how so-and-so down the street 'disrespected' him. All udder B.S.

I watched the GF trilogy just 'cuz. I could have stopped at the first one. They were udder shite!

But Brando was the Bomb in Apocalypse Now!

I know there may be some that strongly disagree with me, but here goes

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

It was so over-hyped back in the 90's and was such a let down.

Transformers
Lord of the Rings (all 3)
300
The Departed
Iron Man
Beowulf

I'd like to veto everyone's choice of Titanic. It was the only movie I've ever gone back to see again in a theater (except for The Matrix but I was drunk and passed out halfway through it the first time).
Well Caliminius, I seem to be 180 degrees from your view.

I loved all the films you think are over-rated and I think Titanic was a total waste of time. I too left the room during this sleep fest and returned near the end. I couldn't wait for Leonardo's character to die. It took forever! Total chick flick!
