^ -> Speaking of brightness, especially important now that interest in high dynamic range imagery has taken center stage with many film/video bloggers, tweeters and such, unbeknownst to all but a knowledgeable few at this time, is that a standard for measuring image brightness of HDR in production is progressing nicely thru the ITU as ITU-R BT.[MIL]. more - https://www.itu.int/CookieAuth.dll?G...on=0&formdir=7 For those who don’t qualify for professional access ^, all I can share is that the draft specifies a mean image level (MIL) measurement algorithm for objectively monitoring and managing the perceptual brightness of HDR-TV programs. |

Yes it's surprising that Gemini Man is not attracting more the cinémathèques (technical film experts).
Marvel and DC comic flicks is a better recipe with CGI effects and sound effects. Who wants HFR and 3D when you can make billions with comic book superheroes and villains. If Ang Lee was going to make the next Batman's sequel with HFR and 3D IMAX cameras, then it might attract the film aficionados of the Hollywood moviegoer's crowd and universal audiences across the planet Earth...including Chinese 3D fans. Give a role to Jared Leto ... pull him out of Suicide Squat. Hire Daniel Craig as Batman, or Chuck Norris. _____ * Things are slowing down ... only 200,000+ views so far in October. It must be the Autumn season with falling leaves ... |

I for one don't. Ever. Doesn't matter what the film is.

You don't want HFR and 3D; you are not alone...you are part of the majority.
And that majority is the one voting with their credit cards and cash. Art is not an easy task to master; it takes more than 4K/8K HDR and Dolby Vision/Atmos. IMO |

But 3D is not going anywhere ... Avatar sequels are impregnated with the latest 3D art.

Personally, I would drive out of my way to see a mostly underwater documentary in HFR……maybe even a narrative film with lots of underwater action like The Abyss. However, I may be a bit biased as having been incentivized to travel all the way to French Polynesia - Rangiroa, Fakarava - back in the day to film sharks (framed photo 2nd row far left, straight down from the air vent) –

Speaking of which, I recall it being floated in one article or another that they were doing this on Gemini Man, that it wasn't actually 120fps all the way through? Yep: https://www.screendaily.com/features...140383.article |
