Funny, I just put an order in for the Eureka release yesterday. I bet the biggest advantage the Criterion will have over the Eureka will having a higher quality mono track for "Police Story".

Where do you think they will source their mono track from?

Is there’s some issue just sourcing it from the master? Are the negatives long gone?

I'm very pleased to see this. I hope Criterion might have the option to release the Project A series and would consider doing so!

im happy with my eureka Jackie chan releases and then the police story box set from korea which has the 3rd one with original audio

Based on all the different dubs and cuts on the eureka release, I honestly get the feeling that there isn't much more criterion could add except it would be good for people who aren't region free

I thought the Weinstein Company was supposed to go down under because of the lawsuit against Harvey.

At first i was thinking Police Academy - thought what an odd title for Criterion to release.

Police Story III is my favorite. Would be nice if they had that one as well.

I think those are still with Miramax in the US.

I'll double-dip if Criterion undo the Ritrovata yellow on Police Story 2, which is highly unlikely.

Everyone complained that the Eureka release had bad color timing- especially Part 2. Why couldn’t Criterion correct this for their release?

Eureka had stated that the color timing couldn't be changed due to stipulations by the licensor; I assume that this might carry over for Criterion unless Criterion are aware of the Pisstavision problems and fight Fortune Star to change the color timing.

I assume that was too costly for Eureka's budget but presumably could be possible for Criterion?

Sounds like a lot of work!

I wouldn't count on that. They will most likely use the same remixed track that Eureka wound up replacing.

Trust me since I started helping Eureka with their Hong Kong releases, Fortune Star hasn't provided a decent mono track yet and I don't see them changing this for Criterion.

Also remember Fortune Star doesn't even have a mono track for Part 2.

I did try contacting Criterion to help them out but unfortunately did not get a reply.

If anyone from Criterion is reading this please feel free to PM me!

I do believe another member here got in contact with them and mentioned the audio and the theatrical cut of Police Story 2.

Will be interesting to see what they put out that's for sure.
