What problems are there with the current transfer?

Speaking of Paramount, I would love for Event Horizon to get remastered. The transfer on the current Blu has very noticeable edge enhancement. It's also vertically stretched, which makes the actors look like Mr. Fantastic from The Fantastic Four.

I think Pitch Black needs an remaster, but the BR isn't too bad.

Not really seeing how they're going to improve much on Spidey 2, but anything's possible. I eagerly await the results, as it's my third favorite superhero movie ever.

Giving the disc a good going over, I think the haloing I'm seeing here and there, are more to do with the contrasted look of the film, as opposed to any digital tinkering. The other tell tale signs of sharpening, I'm not seeing.

Long story short, it's an ugly movie and remains ugly.

Does Best Buy have 4K displays up? I'd love to check out what it's like.

At both my local BB and Frys they have them on display already. However except for some screen saver shots there really isn't any big noticeable differences.

The ones in my area have big signs touting Sony 4K TVs. Dunno if they're showing actual 4K content or just 2K uprezzed.

I've seen the Sony 65" 4K set at my local Worst Buy and Fry's. Nice looking picture, but honestly I don't know if the improvement is all that noticeable over a high quality 1080p transfer. Certainly not enough to warrant shelling out 7 grand(plus tax) for one of those sets. Maybe in 3-4 years when the cost comes down and there's actually stuff to watch on them.

My nearest Magnolia has the 65" Sony UHD playing the UHD video clips and they look quite good. Some scenes kind of hard to tell from 1080p, but others do seem to show more detail than I recall ever seeing before on anything 1080p.

Audio Quality, or AQ is the same with previous releases.

PQ on the other hand have had various differences, but subjective to each individual. From marginal to significant improvements. There are screen caps posted all over this thread.

According to Sony, you benefit most from these releases by getting their 4K Upscaling player with their Expanded Colour UHDTV.

Generally, my quick opinion is if you haven't owned a previous release of these films and don't care too much about extras, then you may consider getting this.

Default Sony "Mastered in 4K" Blu-ray Titles May 14 and July 16

I've seen the 4K TV in Best Buy and, honestly, the enhanced color hurts my eyes. At least it did on the soccer clip they were showing, with those bright uniforms.

So, it's basically a ploy to get people to buy Sony TVs? Pass.

When it's done right, I think that 1080p can look PHENOMENAL. I haven't seen 4K with my own eyes yet, but from what I can gather, people who have seen it don't seem to think that the difference is all that big.

Studios should concentrate on bringing the best possible picture quality to 1080p rather than talk focus on 4K.
