Thats the only problem I have seen been reported on PQ, I did not notice that on my disc and the AVS forums review was shining. Gave a 10/10 for the 3D disc and mentioned no problems.

Prometheus gave lots of answers. it just presented new questions, as a good science fiction should

+1. Yes, though the film had plenty of plot holes, and at times was ridiculous. I really pondered on the questions it asked than finding the answers in the movie. I think that's what all good sci-fi movies should do. I never want a sci-fi movie that was straight logical or provided all the answers.

The Dettifoss waterfall in Iceland. I think it was intentional for that place to represent "Earth" (in all it's familiarity of geography and nature).

+1. Fair point. While I LOVED Avatar and blown away with the visuals, have to admit the story was rather bland and predictable. BUT it was simple and strong in its story telling (because there was not much story to be told!).

Prometheus tries a little too hard and Scott gets a little muddled with what he actually wants to tell. Is it an Alien prequel? Is it it's own story? He wanted to eat the whole cake...and in the process, made a slight mess over it.

Guess Avatar needed more piddling philosophical posturing to earn its internet cred, but for me it's ten times the film Prometheus is.

Actually, I really do believe Scott made this movie with "style" in mind (going back to sci-fi) with little co-herent substance. Like I said before, he wanted to tell so much (or left it open too wide for interpretation and expectation and hype) without a coherent message/story telling (hence plot holes). It had enough substance (origin of life/religion/faith/evolution/fate/death etc) to keep fans interested but not enough. It felt 80% of the time/money/etc was spent on making the sets and the visuals of the movie stunning - which he convincingly did.

Great screen cap! Actually missed this after watching the movie THREE times. BUT I came to the same conclusion. I was certain the only live Engineer was the only one that remain and the rest perished when the biological hazard got loose. This was implied when Fifield and Millburn find the large collection of dead Engineers with their burst chest walls.

No, in that link the 3D version is noticeably softer than the 2D version.

Looks like some of the detail is missing from the 3D version on Blu Ray.

Indeed. It looks softer and darker. It's Underworld: Awakening all over again although that was simply a poor 2D encode on the 3D disc.

This is very strange and certainly should not look like this......there does seem to be a very serious fault with the 3D version?

The reason i need to know what might be going on is i was looking forward to watching in 3D but if this is indeed a fault i will be wanting an exchange.

I agree, this was one of the most detailed 3d movies I have watched and that particular scene is one of my favorites. So I was watching for it.

I would like to know more of how they got the "capture" and what equipment was used.

Can't you play the raw file using AnyDVD HD just like the .m2ts 2D file?
