Yeah, she didn't...I think her dealing with that is supposed to play a role in the sequel.

I don't think he betrayed anybody, he was just following orders. He isn't capable of betrayal.

That being said, he interpreted "try harder" as "experiment on the crew" and Holloway saying "anything and everything" as "feel free to give me some black goop."

What scares me the most about David is his lack of morals, ethics and emotions. His reasoning for his actions is completely alien from ours.

[Show spoiler]Weyland's orders, even at the expense of the crew (just as Ash did).

Right after being told to "try harder," he sabotage's Halloway's drink to see what effect the black goo will have on a human being. His goal is to see if the goo will have any regenerative properties on humans, as his primary objective is to extend Weyland's life. Halloway's death and the squid baby are the side effects of that [failed] experiment. David inadvertently creates the first alien queen as he is attempting to unlock the "secrets of the gods" for Weyland.

It's not fully apparent on the first or second viewing, but after you give it some time to sink in, you'll realize David was only following Weyland's orders.
Sorry but
[Show spoiler]that is not the first alien queen.

Nobody else have this issue? This was the only thing wrong with mine--it played just fine but had this problem.

From what I understand, the film's creators say it is.

To self-destruct the ship she'd need a strike as it's quite difficult due to the non-sphere shape of David's detached head. If you look closely in the film you can spot the lanes on the bridge of the ship and there's even a little cubicle to get your shoes as those space-boots aren't regulation equipment....
I don't know what movie you saw chip75. There was no bowling alley on the alien ship. I think the ship is controlled telepathically or perhaps the enginneer's nervous system links to the ship in that weird chair. I also noticed there were no toilets. The engineers might not need them. Their body function might be like a terraruim generating and recycling resources internally. No waste.

No bowling alley? No pool tables? Man, I don't recall seeing any rec resources anywhere on that ship. No wonder the Engineers are so cranky, their freakin' employers are cruel slave-drivers. What kinda job do you think you have when you are forced to sleep for 2000 years only to wake up to the very cockroach infestation you were told to spray, or your boss demands that you die by some waterfall in the middle of nowhere.

I'd be pissed all the time too.

Watched the 3D version again today, and this time I watched it a little louder and the sub turned up a notch. Those ULF bass always puts a smile on my face and vibrate my room.

[Show spoiler]“Originally known as the Ultramorph, this final incarnation of the PROMETHEUS mutations was always intended to be a missing link of sorts between this film and the other entries in the ALIEN series.
Effectively the unholy offspring of all the infected victims who came before it, Ridley Scott dubbed this creature The Deacon based on the pointed shape of its head, similar to a Bishop’s head-dress. This creature was originally intended to have more screen time, pursuing Shaw and David to the second Juggernaut ship, narrowly missing them as they leave the planet.
The original Alien’s trademark secondary jaw can be found in more undeveloped form with The Deacon. Based on the long protrusible jaws of the deep sea Goblin Shark, The Deacon’s secondary jaw ends the film with a nightmarish hint of possible horrors to come.” (Demons in the Dark: Creature Design, The Furious Gods: making of Prometheus)
Conclusion: The Deacon is not a queen. There is no queen in Alien. Neither Ridley Scott nor Giger created a queen. The queen was a creation of James Cameron for Aliens. Giger did not work on Aliens.

That is very appropriate since James Cameron is the

KING OF THE WORLD.

The Alien queen was also designed by the late Stan Winston.

Here is a link on the creation of the Alien Queen.https://www.stanwinstonschool.com/bl...ll-size-puppet

I blind-bought this about a week ago after trying my best to avoid all spoilers, and in my opinion this is the best dark/serious sci-fi movie that has come out in several years. I've seen it twice now and I really love it.

I have just finished watching the Furious Gods with all of the enhancement pods. There is an incredible amount of stills, sketches, and features, which I have gone through completely.
[Show spoiler]Regarding The Deacon. The people involved with its development refer to it as being the size of a 6 year old boy at 'birth'. There are several instances where they discuss it not as an 'it', but as a 'him' and use the words 'he' and 'his' in the discussion. Add that to the use of 'Deacon' (male prelate) rather than 'Deaconess' to describe him and draw your own conclusions. There are no anatomical clues.

I watched "Alien" last night after being on a "Prometheus" buzz for the past week or so. I'd always preferred that to "Aliens" because of the claustrophobia of it, the fact that they're just a bunch of space truckers or miners, and just the atmosphere of it all. Plus "Aliens" annoyed me because nobody would listen to Ripley and the marines were retards that acted like twelve year olds ('cept for Hicks, because Michael Biehn is always cool). But now "Prometheus" is easily my favorite in the series. It's even helped my appreciation for "Alien" though, by giving me the idea that maybe the Nostromo was intentionally sent out to make contact with this planet by the company based on it's past experiences (yeah, I know it's not the same planet or moon or whatever, but they know something's out there).

Still don't know why a ship would need a self-destruct mechanism though. Or why they didn't just do the "Snakes on a Plane" trick and seal themselves in the cabin and open some outer doors to suck it out.

A generation of great movie monster craftsmen and practical creative thinkers are starting to pass into history. Movies like Prometheus still give me hope for them however.
