I just find the new 2D cover a bit creepy. Will get the 3D, if and when I buy it (I see amazon.ca is selling the 3D for $5 cheaper anyways).

But has there been a formal announcement? A lot of sites are taking preorders with a date either October 9 or 11 (9th is a Tuesday, but 11th makes sense with that tease at the end of the credits). Would like to know what we're getting, special features wise as well as aspect ratio (I prefer the 1.90:1 IMAX framing, but I think most people prefer 2.40:1).

Wait, how do we know that there's a full disc of bonus features on the 4-disc set?

Why I ask is because a lot of sets say four disc, but one of the discs is actually just a Digital Copy?

What comes to mind is the Tron: Legacy 3D set. Blu-Ray 3D, Blu Ray 2D, DVD, Digital Copy. Can someone provide links that there will be a disc full of extras?

And who's to say those extras won't be on the 2D release? Has there ever been a release where the 3D edition had more extras in it?

This whole release has got me thinking fishy-business is going on. 14.99 for a pre-order is ridiculously expensive. I wouldn't mind forking forward the cash if we knew what exactly would be on the discs, but they're being so mischievous.

This was one of my favorites of the summer, and really looking forward to watching it again, but dammit, I just want things to be clear already.

Nobody really knows the full details because Fox has yet to announce them.

Yes, the Disney's Cars 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides have the extra special features disc in 3D version only. There might be more examples but those two are the ones that I have and know for sure.

Edit: Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D also have tons of extras that single blu-ray didn't. But this is little different because 3D version was released after single version came out.

Fox wants us as confused as the characters in the movie.

I can imagine people running through best buy on release day screaming "What is happening?!?!" While the trailer music plays.

That's why I'm so befuddled at the release upto this point. It's not a very good sign that the first time we see a release like this to have a 14.99 instant-view pre-order is for a set we know absolutely nothing about.

Complete unknown to be honest until someone reviews the package. There is certainly a chance it wil be locked given its Fox. Im in the same boat. Have it on pre-order from both UK and US amazon. Just waiting on region coding of US version. I always perfer US releases for their packaging and lack of rating logos.

That's my main reason too.

Are there any other sites apart from amazon to import blurays at a good price?

The French release is confirmed to have a bonus disc as is the UK and German Collectors sets so the majority of the extras will be on a bonus disc, in a fair world both releases would have it but the recent examples of Transformers 3, Cars 2 and PotC4 make me think only the 3D release will have it but would love to be prooved wrong.

Fox puts the digital copies on the same disc as the DVD, so it will be 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Blu-ray special features disc, DVD/Digital Copy.

Still, the lack of any official announcement is strange. We do know that the 3D release is 4 discs based on the packaging, but there technically is no confirmation yet that the 2D release won't have the third disc.

I agree, there wont be a whole disc for just the digital copy.
DCs are usually on the dvd disc so we will get a whole disc for bonus as it inc a 90 min making of plus lots of other goodies!

This website lists 4 discs as 3 Blu-rays and 1 DVD. Which means digital copy is on the DVD disc. The extra disc will a blu-ray with special features.

Their packaging aint so great through unless you pay extra for it. Im happy to stick with Amazon myself for the eace of mind for packaging and delivery guarantees. Plus bluraysforeveryone essentially buy and retail and just ads a margin making it quite expensive. Though it can be the only way to get some of the exclusives for people OS.
