just as an FYI, Casino Royale is NOT listed as a valid title for the coupon.
it's just the older Bond titles.

this is a day one purchase for sure. (the first day one purchase for me even though i have almost 50 blurays). loved the movie and it got better every time i saw it. i know that there will be another release in a couple years but i loved this movie too much to wait.

I am baffled as to how anyone could give this movie a 5 out of 5 score for both the film itself, as well as overall considering it only got a 2.5 in the supplements department. I was a HUGE fan of Casino Royale but I wouldn't even give that film a 5 out of 5, and this was a jumbled mess in comparison. The action sequences can't even give it some sense of redemption as they were incomprehensible thanks to the shaky camera/cutting away twice every second. Maybe if it was a standalone Bond film I wouldn't have hated it AS much, but as a sequel to Casino Royale I thought it was pathetic. Bigger disappointment than Back to the Future 3, Matrix Revolutions, and Revenge of the Sith combined.

as ben said earlier, different strokes for different folks. some people will like it and others won't. reviewers don't cater to the majority, they express their own opinions and the reviewer clearly liked it. in regards to the special features, if star wars was released on bluray with outstanding PQ and AQ but no extras wouldn't you still highly recommend it? supplements are just that: supplements, not the main feature, and that's what makes the movie (imo)

No I wouldn't highly recommend it because I would feel they will more likely than not come out with with a version that actually has a fully stocked array of special features which will make many want to double dip. A 5 out of 5 means it's perfect, and it can't be perfect if something better can come out in it's place.

Do you know if it will work with Never Say Never Again? I plan to pick that one up ASAP since it's the only Bond film I never bought on DVD.

well to each his/her own. no where on this site does it say 5/5 translates to perfect, that's your own interpretation. 5/5 might mean "highly recommend" or "must own." and even if it does equal perfect, maybe that means it's as perfect as it can be right now. otherwise wouldn't every "perfect" be meaningless, since something better could potentially always come along such as...using your formula...even more special features?

As long as this film has the Bond theme songs in it, and not the Bourne "Da-da da-da da-da da-da" theme songs in it, I'm good.

I like Bourne a lot, and I don't mind if QoS has some Bourne traits in it, but hopefully the Bond score is still there.

I was picking up my laptop at BestBuy this morning. (being repaired by GeekSquad)

As I was leaving, I noticed Quantum of Solace on the Blu-ray shelf!!!
Don't know what the deal is with this BestBuy, but they always put
out Blu-ray movies a few days before the official release date. I bought
one and paid only $25.99.(sale price, which is the same as Amazon)
Also took $10 off because I was using my Reward Zone certificate... so
final price $15.99 plus tax.

I'm planning to watch it later tonight.

By the way, can someone tell me what "Quantum of Solace" means?

In the short story of the same name, I believe the title means something along the lines of "A measure of comfort".


This is one of the few films recently that I've been really looking forward to. I'm a huge fan of the Bond films, and will definitely have to give this film another viewing on Tuesday.

Quantum means measure and solace means comfort, which Bond is trying to find(measure of comfort) in avenging the death of Vesper, but Quantum is also the name of the Criminal organization that Greene and Mr. White were apart of.

I can't imagine many will be dissapointed with the score. If diverges in many ways away from the older bond movies. But still has the main bond theme as well as several others (such as the return of the love theme/vespers theme, as well as a new theme, that the music during the titles is based on). The score is as close to prefect for the film as I can imagine.

Was this the black box set or the Best Buy "exclusive" box set including Quantum? I preordered both with in-store pickup to save $25. The Web site says both come out Tuesday, but the exclusive box set contains License to Kill and Man with the Golden Gun.

Is that right, do both come out Tuesday? I really don't want to wait months to watch Quantum, and if that's the case I'll cancel the order and figure something else out.
