Makes me wonder if they will do a 2 Disc set double dip w/ this one like they did w/ Casino Royale(w/cheese!) I have the original single disc Casino Royale from 2007,since the extras were fine and the PQ is probably indentical to the 2 disc,they just added an extra or two to make you buy the title again,there's no need for double dipping Blu's if there done right the first time!

Is Casino Royale the only Bond film owned by Sony? QOS is Fox. Rocky Balboa is also owned by Sony,where the others are now with Fox like the Bonds,Fox seems to own MGM,this month!

I agree QOS = POS! I am so glad I did not blind buy this turkey. Not one Major critic liked this garbage and I can't blame them. The biggest let down after what appeared to be the best Bond since the Connery days.

Yes, Sony has theatrical and home video rights to Casino Royale. They also had theatrical rights to QOS.

QOS wasn't what I expected. I purchased it within a day or so after it was released on BD. I grew up with the classic Bond movies that are now being released on BD. I didn't see it in the theater for that reason, knowing I would be tempted to get on BD. So, I waited. I already have Casino Royale. I really enjoy that film.

I think as far as video and audio quality go, this BD is among the best, no doubt about it. I can't add anything more than what has already been hashed out. I might not watch this movie very often, but at least it's redeeming quality will be using it as a showpiece for demoing what Blu-ray PQ and AQ is all about.

As for the plot and story, well, what plot and story? Did I miss something in all that action? Can a film as such have too much action? Is there a limit before it gets to be boring? Well, I can answer yes to those! For me that is exactly what happened. Even my wife couldn't get into the film and left the room leaving me there to watch it alone. She called it an action binge movie. I quite agree with her.

Yes, it picks up where Casino Royale left off, but it just ran amok. Although there's a bunch of eye and ear candy strewn together rather haphazardly, it's lacking backbone and substance. There wasn't much dialogue in this movie. QOS, despite the action, was a lackluster film. It was plain boring. Bond as a character in QOS, and I don't mean Craig as actor (who did an outstanding performance in his role), lacked that certain quality of the old Bond, finesse. This Bond is sterile and cold blooded. I didn't much care for it.

I know there are opinions expressing the opposite view. I wish I too, could express such a view, but being honest, I can't really recommend this film. That is just my humble opinion as a James Bond fan and a disappointed one at that.

Gotta agree, although I don't tend to pay a lot of attention to reviews. (And yes I liked it.) Problem for me with some of the older Bonds is they're too damn slow, like in put me to sleep slow -- and that's just from having viewed most of the Connery ones (on DVD)... So not being boring is always a plus for me with a Bond film.

All in all, not too far off from Casino Royale, but could have been longer and included a bit more context/character development.

The plot was quite simple and i'm sure you noticed it, however the story was as far as i'm concerned all to do with Bonds inner conflict (something we probably never excpected to see in a Bond film). And i'm not going to ruin the subtlties of it for you as you'll no doubt start noticing them everywhere on repeat viewings.

Well Bond just lost what we know from the books is his strongest love and he as M says Bond "is blinded by inconsolable rage". I may also add the lacking of the 'old' qualities of Bond is something that was also 'missing' in Casino Royale, there was a decision to make this bond more like the Bonds we know from the books. As Mathers points out during his death (one of the strongest moments in any Bond film in my opinion), the story is about Bond learning to not only forgive Vesper, but also himself.

I hope you give this film another chance as it left me dissapointed after my first viewing, but each time i've seen it since I have seen a significant increase in the movies qualities and have enjoyed it all the more. (If possible try watching it back to back with Casino Royale, the moments right before Mr White walks away with the briefcase set up Bonds emotions in this film perfectly).

wow...i've never heard of that before. i'm sure a lot of people use component for HD tho, and you would be hearing much more about this issue especially from users no this forum if it rang true. the amazon guy probably had his settings configured wrong. there's no reason the movie shouldn't play with component cables.

I watched the movie and really like it. The thing everyone says about there's no story, no substance ... well this movie is Casino Royale 2 .. The story was set in casino royale... why would they lose another hour to say it again ..

Maybe it wasn't the Bond movie we used to see .. it was something else and that's because the Bond franchise was going downhill ...

I would be suprise too see if everyone who dislike the movie would dislike it the same was if it was named Casino Royale 2.

I also agree completely. I honestly can't fathom how people call this movie a POS, why some critics and people whine about it being "too much like Bourne", and so on. I just watched this tonight and thought it was a solid action movie and a good extension of Casino Royale. Some people just can't seem to appreciate good movies nowadays. They have to nitpick that this detail and that detail isn't completely accurate to what they thought it should be. During a time when 90% of movies are crap, it's pretty silly to dismiss a really good movie.

Bought this at Costco on Saturday and watched it that night, really amazing PQ and sound. All of the comments in this thread about the fast cuts and editing had me noticing it a bit more, which was a bummer because it became a bit distracting, but I still think the movie is awesome.

I knew going into it that it was basically Casino Royale 2, but I was still expecting some more substance. I like action movies as much as the next guy, but it seemed like they filled the film with action piece after action piece just to keep the time moving. I was expecting a little more story and character development, personally.

My main problem with it was how most of the action scenes were shot. All of the action scenes in Casino Royale were filmed so that you could actually follow the action, thus giving you something to be interested in. In Quantum, it seemed like in every hand-to-hand combat scene they told two guys to start fighting and just threw a camera in between them and let it bounce around, then took the footage and decided that no one cut should be longer than three seconds. I found it hard to follow the action, which makes it far less interesting.

Or maybe he just doesn't like this kind of Bond (that is to say a Bond that is human, not just a series of one liners, martini's shaken not stired, one night stands and action scenes thrown together). I personally have generally found people who didn't like this movie didn't understand it though. But not always.

I think this one of the best Bond movies ever made. Way better than anything Roger Moore did. I just miss Q.
