At first glance, the one that sticks out to me the most from this latest batch is Scream and Scream Again, and that's because of the cast ... Vincent Price, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. Hmm.

FWIW, 4 films from the 70s, 5 from the 80s, 2 from the 90s.

From what I read, Lee and Cushing basically have cameos and are never on screen with Price.

Despite Count Yorga's stupid title, it's actually a minor classic of the genre and was notable for being one of the first to put vampires in a modern setting. It was a pretty big success and spawned Hammer's awful imitation "Dracula AD 1972." I'll definitely be getting it and Scream and Scream Again. I'm very surprised to see TT doing either of them, they seemed more like Kino material. I'm guessing we probably won't see the sequel to Count Yorga now, but oh well.

Back when TT mentioned more Bronson titles and I said I was really hoping for 10 to Midnight everyone scoffed as if a Golan/Globus Cannon title was not worthy of a TT release. SUCKERS!! Day one for me, I'm a die hard Bronson fan and I love 10 to Midnight. Glad to see it officially announced, maybe we'll see more Bronson Golan/Globus titles like The Evil That Men Do, Murphy's Law or Assassination. Still hoping for Breakout, The Family or The Stone Killer too.

Would like to pick up Emperor of the North, Scream and Scream Again and Black widow if and when they go on sale sometime down the road.

Scream and Scream Again is a lot of fun. Here's the best review I've seen of it, from Kim Newman's excellent book "Horror: The Definitive Companion" (it just has capsule reviews and pictures of everything in the genre he considers essential viewing in chronological order).

Quote:
A killer is stalking women in London nightclubs and drinking their blood; a jogger wakes up in a hospital bed to find his limbs amputated one by one; and a ruthless psychopath seizes power in a totalitarian Eastern European state. Bewildering and exhilarating by turns, Hessler's adaptation of Peter Saxon's novel The Disorientated Man is an ambitious attempt to drag classic horror stars (Price, Lee, Cushing) and themes (Frankenstein, vampires) into a modern Swinging London of grooving dolly-birds, mauve silk shirts and political paranoia.

It's not entirely successful: the film's obsession with human partition, seen in the limb-lopped jogger, the vampiric Keith's torn-off hand and a freezer full of body parts, has its parallels in a narrative that is so fragmented as to be a near-incoherent patchwork of scenes that fail to make the most of their horror stars (Cushing's role is a cameo, and Lee and Price only meet for a brief confrontation at the climax) or the collision of styles ranging from generation-gap movie through mad science to '60s super-sleuth - as though John le Carré, his mind buzzing with topical events (Gary Powers's spy plane) and ambient fears (organ transplants, cyborg technology), had rewritten Frankenstein as a tribute to Bava's Diabolik (1968).

But, as Hessler avoids static camera set-ups in favour of hand-held cameras and rapid edits, even if the film is finally little more than a collection of dissociated set pieces, they're so bizarre and adrenalin-charged that Scream remains enormously entertaining, trading on such extraordinary sequences as cyborg vampire Keith (Michael Gothard in a wonderful Austin Powers turn - "lovely mover", one of the habitués of the Busted Pot observes as Gothard shimmies to the sound of the Amen Corner) being chased around south London by police and tearing off his hand to escape, all fuelled by a jazz score that kicks into high gear at the slightest provocation.

I'm in for 10 To Midnight, Fat City, Emperor Of The North, John Carpenter's Vampires, Scream and Scream Again, Devil In A Blue Dress. Other than that, maybe At Close Range, Count Yorga, Black Widow and I am interested in the others too. A couple of great months.

I was going off what it says on the poster. Looks like I'll need to read more about this one before even thinking about pulling the trigger.

The titles announced are pretty underwhelming, bordering on complete crap.

Oddly enough, the one title that I WILL purchase is 10 To Midnight. I never even heard of it, but the premise sounds like it caters exactly to my tastes for early 80's movies.

Wow. Impressive lineup. I might actually be in for all of these. FAT CITY and DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS are first-day purchases for me. Actually probably VAMPIRES as well, given the likelihood of a quick sell-out from Carpenter's fan base.

Thanks for sharing your negativity with us ! LOL- Crap for you, GOLD for me and friends who love the MGM AIP horror films, and John Carpenters Vampires. I could say the same thing about most of their titles in between April and October being crap, but I dont

I would have to agree with that assessment. TT has really been letting me down as of late. There are so many more films that I am sure they could get access to.

There are a lot of genre titles here, which IMO befits the season, but don't sleep on FAT CITY. It's a moody, masterful slice of downbeat 70s cinema from John Huston!

Really nice announcements this time, more up my alley for owning.

Definitely getting 10 to Midnight, Vampires and Devil in a Blue Dress. Might get Strange Invaders and another, will have to do some research. Way to go TT!

Look on the bright side. The more of us who aren't interested in the horror films, the less likely they'll sell out from under you.

Not a single horror movie has sold out before I placed an order. But they do sell out quick
What would these threads be without title announcement complaints every one to two months ?

Pretty damn quiet

Yeah, since the debacle that was Christine, TT has been much better (i.e. faster limits and higher print runs.)

Finally, Count Yorga! Love that movie. I'm also excited about getting Scream and Scream Again.

Definitely picking these up:

Count Yorga, Vampire
John Carpenter's Vampires
10 To Midnight

Considering that TT released the 2 Flint movies in their lineup, I'm hoping that they also release "The Return Of Count Yorga" at some point to complete the set.
