So, you can imagine how I feel with loads of American Blurays which don't have English subtitles, since English is not my native language..

Question Absolute Beginners

Ummm... is it just my system or is the 5.1 audio mix for Absolute Beginners absolutely wonky? There are moments when the center channel is just fine and others when the sound image either jumps about or the volume level drops to the point where dialogue is practically inaudible (and not by design).

That might not be a good idea.

Do you guy's think that a U-Turn TT autographed BD would sell for more than a sealed copy?

Thanks,
Tom

Hello all,

First post here and new to TT. Placing an order for Mississippi Burning (a firm favourite), and also thinking of getting Bonjour Tristesse which would be a blind buy. Preminger, Niven, and the Riviera location all appeal; anyone have a copy and care to comment on the film/quality?

Are you going to post that list of movies in every distributors thread? Just curious as I have a lot of movies I'd like to see get the blu treatment, but I thought it might be rude to list them all on every distributors thread.

Why don't you email that list to every company? They don't read these threads.

The other labels read their threads for sure, but I've never seen a Twilight Time rep on here. That doesn't mean they don't read it too though. This forum is one of only a handful of relatively busy forums on BD releases.

Default Mississippi Mermaid

I love Truffaut, Belmondo & Deneuve so I know MM will be a winner for me but handheld/jittery camera work gives me serious headaches that last for hours after watching.

I ask this bc I recently purchased Truffaut's The Bride Wore Black while I loved the movie the handheld camera work killed me. I doubt I will rewatch it much if ever to be honest bc its not worth the headache literally lol

It would be nice to save a little money bc $30 is a lot to only watch a film once.

I guess the question is whether to 230+ copies are part of the initial 5,000 copies or not. If not that seems to be an excessive amount of promotional (i.e. free) copies for one person.

Thank goodness you said something about the jittery camera work on this one. I was really considering a blind buy, I really have a hard time watching movies where the camera is all over the place. I was on the fence this month between a blind buy of The Bride Wore Black or the Thunderbirds double feature. I think I'll go with the Thunderbirds on pay day. Can't go wrong with the Thunderbirds!

I know that Truffaut often does hand held camera work but I've watched The Bride Wore Black several times (to me it gets better with each viewing) and have never been particularly aware of any jitteriness or jarring camera movements. Am I missing something? I'm looking forward to seeing Mississippi Mermaid for the first time, it should arrive next week and will likely order Adele H down the road
