I know that, but it's really sad to see now only B-horror movies (and C and D and E ) get released (since these are all that's left) and not see classic films like Bringing up baby, The Sea Hawk, Anastasia and many others not getting a release.
it's like someone releasing all the uknown and inferior classical period composers on cd, while there's still tons of Mozart and Beethoven to release!

Eventually they will come out - The Sea Hawk is with Warner, they havent slighted the classics at all - between the Sinatra and 1939 sets, Noirs and Musicals. Their horror output hasnt been anywhere near what fans would like. They did the Hammer set and the Monster set.. plus Wolfen -
The problem with Warner is that they have a zillion titles and even when they release something on blu ray , they still have a zillion catalog titles to go. (All those Signature DVD collections for example). It seems like theyre doing a "lil this and a lil that"

I didn't find The Birdman of Alcatraz boring. Maybe a bit dry, but there's only so much you can do to juice up a story about a guy locked in a prison cell studying birds. My main problem was the sentimentality that you mentioned. They made the protagonist out to be a quiet, gentle scholar when the real Robert Stroud was a violent sociopath with an interesting hobby. I think the film would have been more interesting had they more deeply examined the seeming contradiction in his character, but then it wouldn't have been a Stanley Kramer movie.

Similarly, I Want to Live is also awash in sentimentality, but it features an over-the-top performance by Susan Hayward that elevates it from social commentary to searing melodrama.

John Frankenheimer directed Birdman of Alcatraz, or are you using "Stanley Kramer movie" as a genre definition for heavy-handed social drama?

No shorthand, just a brain fart on my part. I was thinking that Birdman of Alcatraz was a Stanley Kramer production, but it was actually a Hecht-Hill-Lancaster production. Maybe I was confusing it with Judgement at Nuremberg, which Twilight Time released at the same time. Thanks for the correction. The rest of my comments stand.

The initially rush during the sale must be subsiding - they just shipped the titles I ordered - including The Detective so at least one of the pre orders is in stock. I usually do not purchase more than one or two regular priced blu rays but like many the recent sale had me also buying House Of Bamboo, First Men In The Moon, Hombre, and Emperor Of The North. Should be an entertaining evening soon, I needed an excuse to use the projector.

Announcements in almost a day and a half!
So excited and looking forward to it!
Hope for a biblical film (since it will be Easter season when they're released) and Anastasia (1956) to be among them.

I was checking to see what, if any, of the December titles had shipped, but now that I think about it, mine usually don't ship until Thursdays anyway, but it's awfully quiet on here about them (one mention), so maybe it won't be today after all this time around.

I did sneak in an order on Saturday and it shipped on Tuesday, so now just waiting on my pre-order order (pre-ordered 1984 and Kings Go Forth) to ship.

About a half dozen other Sinatra films, including The Detective, filled up my dvr this morning, so got some watching to do in the meantime.

Got to hand it to TT.

Ordered Nineteen Eighty-Four and A Man for All Seasons direct as SAE had sold out of the latter at the promo price. Noticed today that my order had yet to be processed, even though the release date for Nineteen Eighty-Four was December 8. Sent them an email asking about the process to cancel the order, as SAE now has stock of A Man for All Seasons. Got a very prompt response saying they were checking with the warehouse, and shortly after, another email confirming the cancellation. Was then able to place an order for both with SAE, and added House of Bamboo at the promo price as a blind buy. Very much looking forward to seeing it, especially given the many positive comments here, and the lauded cinematography.

Here's a response from TT in regards to a question asked about MI on their FB page.

This is my latest email from TT:

Hi Tallrichard,

There were some unforeseen manufacturing delays and Mysterious Island and The Detective haven't arrived in the warehouse yet. Based on conversations earlier today we are hoping they arrive tomorrow (Friday) so we can start shipping.

Thanks for your patience,
Allen

What I find a little amusing is that I placed my order on 12/2 and paid via PayPal's "Pay After Delivery" feature, which doesn't take the money out of my account until two weeks after the order was placed. Long story short: due to this delay, it appears I will be "Paying Before Delivery" after all.

Default Latest Update for December Releases from Twilight Time

More details posted by TT a couple of hours ago. Note they also update SAE order status:

Quote:
Hi All -- just a shipping FYI -- due to some delays because of the holiday jam-up at the plant, we can report that BORN FREE, THE DETECTIVE, KINGS GO FORTH, and NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR are shipping from http://www.twilighttimemovies.com as of today - SAE will have all of these too, by early next week. MYSTERIOUS ISLAND will be shipping from both sites by the middle of next week.

However, in the case of HARLOCK: SPACE PIRATE we have decided to delay the blu-ray till January, when it will be available to ship with the other 5 Jan titles. This is not about the crowded holiday schedule, but is more to do with the complexity of the 3D authoring, and the sheer volume of special features, most of which had to be subtitled for our release. It is simply too big a project to rush. HARLOCK will be ready to pre-order again on Wednesday, January 6th. Apologies for any convenience caused. Happy Holidays, everyone!
I have revised the first post to put Harlock: Space Pirate back on the pre-order announcement for January.

I was genuinely curious as to why people buy TT releases. As there usually aren't any real extra's to speak of and the price is double of a normal Blu-Ray, what is the intrigue behind buying their releases?

Does anybody know what will happen with the autographed promo? If they remove Space Pirate from my order, I will no longer qualify.

From a post in the title specific Harlock: Space Pirate thread regarding this same question:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...0&postcount=75

In other words: No worries But you can always email SAE to get your own confirmation. They are very responsive.
