Yay Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is back! Exciting. Some great movies in the rest of that list but nothing I want to own.

Interesting that Thunderbolt and Lightfoot was originally released 2/11/2014 and is now getting re-released in April 2016. This is well within the three year period. There appears to be some flexibility now with re-releasing sell-outs before the three year window is over (unless the "timer" started months before the title's street date). This is an MGM property, the first re-release of a title licensed from that studio.

It seems that whenever new titles are announced, I recognize a handful or less of them. I find it fun doing research on the unknowns (like looking at trailers and reviews) and feeling like I'm discovering new gems, even though many of them are from my era. Love it! So many great films that went under the radar over the years. Twilight Time is living up to its name bringing some of these back into the public eye ... at least bringing them back to people like me who knew little (if anything) of them before. Maybe it's just me.

It's not just you. My order of sale items is full of films that fit your description to a T (never heard of them, did a little homework, was intrigued, blind-bought because it was on sale).

I'm particularly looking forward to "House of Bamboo" and "Emperor Of The North". Of these new announcements, I'm in for "Exodus", "Julia" and "Cutter's Way" sounds really good also.

Out of the 14 titles I bought during this last sale (including the Fantasticks promo), 9 of them are blind buys which I bought based mostly on recommendations, reviews and trailers. (Speaking of the sale, I feel like I bought a year's worth of films during this one sale. Then again, it had been a 5 month stretch since I bought any TT titles, so I was due.).

Last year, I went bonkers with the Criterion/Barnes & Noble sale for my birthday/Christmas (about 3-4 weeks apart). I was planning on catching up on Twilight Time titles this season anyway, but the sale allowed me to get more than I was originally planning on. I got 8 in my first batch (5 blind buys) and I'm waiting on 12 for my next one (9 blind buys). Then it's a case of "hopefully they have a 5th birthday sale in March/April" and I can catch up with some of the rest I want.

They don't make it easy, though, when they announce 2-3 titles a month that pique my interest.

I sincerely hope Twilight Time give this overlooked masterpiece the full attention it deserves and don't skimp on the special feature content for this release. In a perfect world, we would have Jack Nitzsche's full, haunting soundtrack on a bonus CD, a full retrospective making of documentary and a commentary track with cast/crew.

I'm betting we'll probably end up with the standard/budget friendly isolated score track, trailer and Redman/Kirgo commentary. I hope I'm wrong!!!!

I wonder if someone at Twilight Time can give let those interested in Exodus if it is a new transfer from the large format negative - or at least a print in good condition - and in the proper 2:20 OAR. Should be interesting.

It kind of has. It was released by Sony as an MOD DVD-R.

I'm pretty much interested in all of these titles except Chato's Land. But the ones I'm most interested in are Anastasia, Exodus, Lilies of the Field, and Julia.

I find it interesting that Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is getting a reissue this soon.
