I've really done it now. I've committed the mother of all Blu-ray collection screw-ups.

I just received a big Screen Archives Entertainment package of Twilight Time discs that I acquired during this latest sale.

I was happily entering my acquisitions into the database when I noticed that The Last Detail and Audrey Rose had already been added to my collection.

...because I had already purchased both of them three months ago!

*sigh*

I've spent a lifetime collecting CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, and Blu-rays, but this is the first time in my life that I've accidentally made double purchases.

I feel like an idiot. I should have known better. It's nice that I acquired them both for the sale price, but I could have spent that $40 on other discs.

Not all owls are wise.

Well, lesson learned. At least I've got backup copies of these two fine cinematic milestones.

Either you have way too many blu-rays or you're just getting old.

that smarts!!! My best friend has done that several times as well and I've benefited from a couple freebies because of it!

As you say, you have back up copies or you could easily sell them for the same price you paid for them since you got them for the $19.99 sale price...

Since there's no such thing as too many Blu-rays, I'll say that I'm getting old.

This is the second time in a week that I've screwed up. I was cutting open a watermelon to eat it during lunch break last week when the knife slipped, and I had to get two stitches in my left hand. I cut open watermelons on a near-daily basis, but this was the first time that I've ever accidentally cut myself while opening one.

You could say you're literally slipping then.

Argh. Yeah. That was the most expensive lunch that I've ever had.

Fortunately, though, my insurance should get all of it, because this was my first non-routine doctor visit in several years, and my HRA allowance probably covers everything.

That's normal.

I cluelessly bought The Sacrifice on Blu-ray twice in a matter of a few months last year.

This here Blu-ray.com site helps me keep track of everything. All I have to do is type in a movie and see it in bold font when it's in my collection.

I just totally did not think to check my database when I was buying The Last Detail and Audrey Rose this past week, though, and that's because I had not got around to watching the Blu-rays that I had already purchased. I simply bought them months ago for the first time, entered them into my database, put them into my unwatched stack, and forgot about them.

Your backlog's just getting big, and cutting yourself is a sign of being a spaz, not getting old! Don't listen to the age-shamers!

Thanks for the heads-up! I still haven't gotten a signed TT bd yet. My problem is that I don't wait to make big orders. I buy them when they come out

I very nearly ALMOST did that a while back, and I'm 36, so I would guess in 10 years I'll be doing it.

Easily done. I ordered Bullitt on BD for $5.99 from Amazon a few months ago only to find I had already picked it up in-store at B&N during a 40% sale.

The interesting thing was that when I went to return it to Amazon, I got a message saying my card would be refunded but not to actually return it. I can only assume the cost of processing the return back into stock is considered to outweigh the cost of me keeping the item. Anyway, I gave it to a colleague who is into Criterion and with whom I sometimes talk movies.

I did that for the first time this past Black Friday with Terminator 3. Fortunately, it only cost $4, couldn't return it since I had opened it before I decided to add it to list here. I was able to sell it for a couple dollars so I wasn't out much. Doing that with a couple TT titles, ouch. I'm sure you could make your money back on ebay if you ever do decide to off load the extra copies. We all get a little senile sometimes.

You could always sell those extra Blu's on ebay for more then you paid.

It looks great. There's one process shot that's got several layers which shows it, but it's pretty impressive that he did that given the tools he had available.

Well, thank heaven I'm not the only one! I was so excited to order a bunch of Olive Films titles in the Deep Discount BOGO sale, including Blue Sky ... but guess what? I had already purchased a used copy of that title and forgot to add it to my collection, so I thought I still needed it. Sometimes I worry about me ...
