On FB at 9:55pm EST they posted that it's sold out. They also confirmed there was a glitch that delayed the promo being available at 4pm (as we all experienced). But they haven't said anything about the shipping, from what I can see.

So is this the first promo signing done through the Twilight Time website? Because I found it to be very confusing: not having a product to click and add to your cart, having it just appear. And then their Facebook post saying "Load up your carts in advance..." which I did, but the promo wouldn't show up unless you deleted items and added them again....

Just wanted to know if this is their normal method with these promotions.

I do not think anyone has it yet. My copy is still Awaiting Shipment. It has a new 4k remaster and is supposed to look stunning per TT on their FB page.

I was able to get Cat Ballou from TT, one of the best freebie titles yet IMO.

Also got:
9 To 5
Hardcore
Miss Sadie Thompson
Zelig

This is the first promo they did on their own site. There were some glitches and they didn't get the promo working until around 4:15 / 4:20. That certainly contributed to the confusion, though it's not unprecedented. I recall one or two signed promotions at SAE that appeared on their site late, though usually only by a few minutes -- not long enough to have people begin questioning whether Daylight Saving Time was factored into the release time, or some other cause.

TT decided to change the process from SAE's manual one, where you had to put the freebie in your cart yourself, to an automatic one, where the freebie is put in your cart automatically. That seems like a smart move, since SAE had issues in the past with people putting multiple signed copies in their carts and those orders having to be sorted out later. The automatic process ensures that TT will have exactly the right number of people getting the freebie. So on that front, TT's design is a plus. Of course, with the delay today, they may have had to go back and add in the autographed copy to people who ordered in the 4-4:15pm window. I think I read someone here mention they were in that situation. But that's not a fault of the automation, but rather a fault of the delay in getting the promotion up.

Other than the delay--which I'm sure will be fixed by the next promotion--it was a fairly smooth checkout process. There's still the question of why shipping was so high, but that can be addressed post-fact.

I've never ordered from TT's site, so I'm curious how well they ship compared to SAE. There's also the fact that TT doesn't have all their titles. I would have gladly put The Last Detail into my order for the signed promotion, but it's only available at SAE now.

(4) TT might not be running the same sales that SAE is. The "7 for 70" sale was SAE-only.

I've ordered from both, and will continue to do so, depending on specific circumstances.
All of the above, plus I usually tack on a Warner Archive to my order.

I got the promo but yeah, the shipping should be $10.99 instead of $12.49 according to the shipping rate listed. Only $1.50 difference but I'm curious why.

I agree with hariseldon about the TT site versus SAE's.

One thing I find annoying about the TT site is that their "Search for a product" on the homepage doesn't actually search for products only. It also searches news items and has a preference for listing those first. WTF? If you are calling it "Search for a product", have it actually spit out products.

I have to type "Sense and sen" before I finally get the Sense and Sensibility product appearing, rather than just news items. "Night of the gener" before I finally see Night of the Generals. Even if you type "Summer lovers", that title doesn't come up.

It's pretty annoying. And if you had the bright idea to click one of those news items, guess what? Most of them don't have links to the products they're about.

With SAE, you search for a product and after just a few letters, you've got the product you want in the dropdown search results.

This is a biggie for me. I buy a lot of titles during the signed promos and when there aren't enough recent releases for me, I have a wishlist of deep catalogue titles that I draw upon to make up the numbers, most of which aren't available at the TT site because they're too old.

Got notice today that my order with the signed promo is already shipped. No word about the change in shipping price, even though I wrote a comment about that with my order. I got charged the higher shipping cost.

To you and others: I'm more asking why you pre-order the new releases on SAE and then complain they ship slower. I'm not saying you should never use SAE at all, nor am I talking to the people who accept the slower shipping and prefer SAE anyway.

Just my opinion but if your order consists of just TT titles I'd order from TT (obviously if they are in stock there). If there's more to your order SAE would be the best way to go.

I simply went to Google, typed in Twilight Time Video and the SAE site was the first thing that popped up with Twilight Time's name next to it. I didn't know it as two separate companies. I thought I WAS ordering from TT.

Now that the 7/70 sale on a limited selection is over, what are the chances of a similar sale on the entire catalog of TT titles? Hope springs eternal but I'm not holding my breath.

Would I be better off canceling from SAE and just ordering from TT directly? I'm still stuck in PENDING hell.

Since it is Friday I'd just stick with SAE, if you cancel you will still have another couple of days for TT to process the order possibly and it would just ship from SAE at that point. I figure I won't watch it until a Fri / Sat nite cause I'm odd... so my feeling is if I didn't have it for this weekend I put it off in my mind until next weekend.
