Just watched it this morning: great & timely. I'd suggest watching it with original, director preferred soundtrack, not the Eurhythmics one (& I love them).

I honestly never loved 1984 the book. I love its imagery and message, but it wasn't a good read for me. Animal Farm was great though, a much better read for my tastes with a similar and compelling message.

1984 the movie I remember being more about imagery and message as well, but I haven't seen it since way, way back. Need to get on that.

As good as the Michael Radford version of 1984 is, I heartily recommend the 1954 BBC version, starring Peter Cushing, to those interested in other productions.

It is from the second and final live broadcast; the first a few days before having caused widespread controversy which was debated in Parliament, such was the concern at the shocking nature of the material at the time.

To my knowledge, it has never had a home video release - but can be found in decent quality on that "tube" site.

I just started watching 1984 for the 3rd time in less than a week. I'm not past the first 5 minutes and I'm already catching (important) things that I missed in the first 2 watchings. Maybe my set-up isn't ideal to hear all the dialogue clearly (or maybe it's just me), but if anybody has trouble hearing the low volume (almost background) dialogue, I highly suggest watching it with the subtitles turned on. (FWIW, I'm watching the 3rd viewing with the orchestral soundtrack).

Since Twilight Time seems to be the only company that Sony licenses older titles to, I wondered if there is any possibility of them releasing THE STEPFORD WIVES (1975) on Blu?

Sweet Jesus, that would be great.

I've been clamoring for a release of The Stepford Wives (1975) since I first bought my Blu-ray player. It's such a nightmarish, but fun film.

I'm not sure who owns THE STEPFORD WIVES. Columbia released the film originally, then Paramount released the dvd close to their own remake. The only thing I've found searching is that Paramount no longer has home video rights.

Just recently picked up the Stepford Wives (both versions by accident--I think I prefer the original the most) on DVD. Twilight Time or otherwise, I'd love to own a Blu-Ray for it.

There's a region free DVD available from Amazon UK:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/1984-Ninete...+peter+cushing

They also have the 1956 version directed by Michael Anderson:

Can anyone give me any info on stockists of Twilight Time new releases?

I'm looking to import Chilly Scenes of Winter when it's up for pre-order, my usual port of call is WOW HD but it looks to me as though they don't hold any stocks of TT releases, anyone know if this is the case?

Also, Amazon look as though they only have marketplace sellers at hugely inflated prices. Do Amazon list the pre-orders?

Ordering directly from TT looks a little steep also.

Ta in advance.

These are the only two authorized retailers of Twilight Time product. Anyone else is just re-selling:

http://www.screenarchives.com

OR

http://www.twilighttimemovies.com

Many of their earlier titles, if they're still in print, will only be available at Screen Archives so check there first or ask on this thread if there's a title you are interested in that you think might be sold out.

Screen Archives also has a storefront on Amazon, so they would be one of third-party sellers. So, two authorized retailers, three authorized sales channels. Everyone else is just reselling, usually at drastic mark-ups.

If you had an Amazon gift card that you wanted to use, ordering from SAE via Amazon might be the way to go.

I was about to say there's three, but it looks like TCM Store doesn't carry Twilight Time anymore. Not that they were ever a good deal.

Any idea what stock is left for Boxcar Bertha? Was hoping to hold out for a sale but I can't miss out on a Scorsese movie!

Thanks. Seems to be an "independent" effort. Some of the customer comments allude to an issue between the Orwell estate, the BFI, and the BBC, that may be preventing an official release. Anyway, I might be tempted, given that the online version could disappear at any time.

I think that there's a first sale price, maybe $20-$22, and then there are older titles that get put on sale for $15, or even $7-$10. So, within that framework, I would advise buying "Boxcar Bertha" the first time it goes on sale (which won't be for 6-12 months), not because I think it will sell out immediately, but because I do think it will sell out before it ever gets to $15 or cheaper.
