I will be pre-ordering You'll Never Get Rich on day one, partly because it features Rita Hayworth and partly because the movie title speaks directly to me, given my state government civil servant job combined with my propensity to spend a lot of money on Blu-rays.

Good choices, but if I were going to suggest two "Columbia/Sony greats" for them to release, they would be Fail-Safe and The Bedford Incident, followed by a handful of others before getting to your two.

Even if they've stopped licensing more titles going forward, they still have at least 10 they've supposedly already licensed -- not counting the ones already announced for April through June. Marigolds is one of them. |

I want to say something as a general reminder. If you have a complaint about certain aspects of a Twilight Time release, please post your thoughts in a civil and respectful manner.
No one is saying you cannot criticize or complain, just please do it in a way that is constructive and worthy of polite discussion. This applies to any thread in this forum. A few (very few thankfully) seem unable to understand this and posts have had to be removed. Last edited by oildude; 03-21-2017 at 04:09 AM. |

I have to put in a big recommendation for Bonjour Tristesse. A very interesting melodrama featuring a wonderful performance by one of my favorite actors, David Niven, playing a well to do playboy who goes through women as he would toys. His relationship with his spoiled daughter (Jean Seberg) borders on something more than father/daughter, so director Preminger contrasts the beauty of the locations on the French Riviera with the tinge of ugliness surrounding these characters. Deborah Kerr plays the daughter's rival for her father's affections and turns in another quality performance.
If you enjoy films with David Niven (playing a womanizing cad), Deborah Kerr (playing an adult), mixed in with beautiful scenery and boasting a great transfer, and topped off with some dark, Freudian overtones, then this film should be on your list. |
