A lot of us own more Twilight Time Blu-rays than most people own Blu-rays in general.

You're right; but from a completest standpoint, those are the two I've always wanted from TT. The Arrow Fury is definitely a better presentation than the TT, from what I've read.

Talking At Close Range

I received my order from last month's Screen Archives sale. The Train, At Close Range, Kiss of Death, and Hound of the Baskervilles... And an additional booklet for At Close Range, all wrapped up.

Anyone know if there were copious amounts of errors in the included booklet, or why they would be including what I assume is a replacement?

It honestly makes zero difference to me as far as my Blu-ray collection is concerned, but I am a bit curious. I could take a gander through both booklets. But I'm laaaaazy... And thought someone might have a quick response.

Aaaand... Never mind. I took one glance at the included book and understand completely... The included book is nearly impossible to read.

Well... I guess I'm not as lazy as I thought.

May I ask...why? The Twilight Time Fury is supposed to look markedly inferior to the Arrow release, and has no extras aside from a trailer and an isolated score track, both of which are on the Arrow disc. Same with Body Double. I have never felt the need to own every release from a particular label just for the sake of completeism.

Okay, well, it's your choice of course but it just seems like a waste to spend good money on movies you already own, in better versions, just for the sake of completion. I like Twilight Time too but I had no problem selling off my Sinbad discs for a profit and replacing them with the Powerhouse set.

When it comes to picture quality, I've found that the difference between the Powerhouse/Indicator discs and the Twilight Time discs is mostly a “six in one, a half dozen in the other” sort of thing. I own both versions of The Big Heat, because that's one of my all-time favorite movies, and the Indicator disc has a bit more “oomph” with the bitrate, but it's near impossible to distinguish the two in motion.

The bottom line for me is that, if a Twilight Time disc of a particular movie goes up for sale first, then I'll generally buy it, and, if an Indicator disc of a particular movie goes up on sale first, then I'll generally buy it.

Indicator also has the edge when it comes to extras, but I love the down-home feel of chatty camaraderie that Nick Redman, Julie Kirgo, and the others bring to the Twilight Time discs in terms of the commentary tracks, the essays, and all.

We're lucky to have both of these labels around to put out unsung classic movies in a day and age when the shelves at the nearby Best Buy are basically stocked with 50% Mission Impossible sequels and 50% Fifty Shades of Grey films.

I ordered a brand new copy of In Like Flint for $35 shipped. Would like to also get Our Man Flint but it's just too pricey for me so I'll grab the DVD of that one. Once that one arrives it will bring my total # of TT titles owned to 3

I can understand it. Sometimes it's like record collectors wanting rare editions or foreign pressings of albums they already have. It's not that different from me repeatedly buying the three Bond films I don't like on multiple formats because I have all the others. Never underestimate the power of completism.

There's also the thrill of the chase. Once I'd decided I just "had" to have a copy of Criterion's The Third Man, and set my maximum price, the game was afoot. Months later, when I eventually found a dead-mint copy, I was over the moon. Of course, I'd also just purchased a copy of the Region B 4K restoration...

Who said any of this collecting stuff had to make sense?

I know that all too well. I collect Monkees' CDs and I own four different copies and variations of "More of The Monkees". I rarely own multiple copies of the same film; the only exceptions being "The Good, the Bad & the Ugly" (Keeping the Kino for the "not quite" US Cut and have The Man With No Name Trilogy) and E.T. (Bought the 4K and own the Spielberg Director's Collection). Usually if I double dip I just sell or give a friend the old copy.

At the moment, I'm at 240, including the five titles I just ordered from the Fox sale the other day.

There's a few I missed out on, but the two at the top of the list are The Egyptian and The Mad Magician.

Some people are wired that way, and some people aren't. I'm inclined to be a completist with boutique labels, but TT isn't among them, as there are enough titles of theirs I simply don't want.

I also usually prefer to own a region A title first. I have Arrow's the Fury but it's region B, and while I do have a region free player, I always like to have the region A title if it's available, before I spring for the region B. Just personal preference. Also, Fury and Body Double were two TT titles I wanted long before the others arrived, or before I knew about them. I don't "need" them from TT by any means, but as a TT fan, those are two titles I've always wanted to own from them.

Personally, I'll only own two different versions of a movie if both contain their own set of supplements. I own the Scream Factory version of The Thing and the Criterion releases of Dressed To Kill and Blow Out...but I also own the region "B" Arrow releases of same, because these films are amongst my favorites, and I wanted to have all of the available interviews and documentaries (plus the different artwork and booklets of all of these are fun). But if the U.S. and UK versions have the exact same set of extras and even similar artwork, buying both is a waste of money and shelf space. I had the TT release of Christine for several years...until I picked up the neat Sony steelbook release for five bucks, and then I traded the TT version off to a fellow collector for a pair of soundtrack releases I had my eye on for a while, so I more than made my money back on it. Yeah, the Sony release doesn't have the isolated score track, but that's no biggie.

I'm embarrassed to say the only Twilight Time title I own is Mindwarp which I had to have for my Bruce Campbell collection. I'm an outlier on this thread.

Okay, I can see that. Especially about going with the Region A first. I'm kind of the same way... I'm region free but prefer to have the Region A / Region Unlocked disc simply because it offers more flexibility. For something like Body Double though, if I didn't already have the Twilight Time release I would probably just go with the Powerhouse and leave it at that. We all do have our idiosyncrasies.

As strange as it sounds, I don't like to put the "wear" on my region free player unless I have to. And I do own plenty of region B locked titles. Maybe that fear is because a region free player is not as easy to obtain? I don't know. You can buy them on Amazon these days. I guess it doesn't make a difference, ultimately. And I usually don't like to own two copies of a film, unless they supplements are drastically different. For a while I had the original Blu-ray of Halloween 2 as well as the Scream Factory one, just because the original had the Terror is the Aisles documentary. I do own the Scream Factory and Arrow versions of the Thing, but at the moment I believe that's my only duplicate film; it's also my favorite. If I obtained the TT copy of Body Double, I would most likely sell the Indicator one. But that's very low of my list of priorities; I just like to check the prices now and again. I've got way more to worry about with all these upcoming preorders right now...

When should we expect the August cover art to be revealed? I hope Gloria is faithful to the original poster art.
