I remember preordering Christine before it quickly sold out. I was so proud.

Proud of my Walter Hill and Eric Roberts signed copies of Wild Bill and Runaway Train too.

It's unfortunate that Twilight Time appears to be dead. At the very least the brand is dormant at present. Been awhile since I had ordered. Got some goodies with the Chistmas sale...

Really looking forward to watching these; especially Whirlpool and The Snake Pit.

It would be nice to see Twilight Time start to release titles again. Perhaps 4k/Blu combos? Re-release some of their more popular titles that other boutique labels have not touched. Perhaps a Twilight Times Cocoon 4k? Panic Room? Experiment In Terror or Swamp Water in 4k? The Big Heat?

There is still room for Twilight Time and with retailers like Best Buy in Canada no longer stocking physical media there is more of a need for boutique Blu and 4k available by online mail order options.

They've had multiple releases in 2021 and at least one in 2022:

It's 2024..."they released a film two years ago" is pretty dead.

Bar some miracle *pokes the guys at Kino with a pool cue* Hawaii is still my most wanted TT disc and one of my top ten overall. There was one on eBay for $35 a while back, and I couldn’t get it because the shit hit the fan in my personal life. Man did that hurt.

Twilight Time announced that they were shutting down in 2020, following the death of co-founder Nick Redman. Screen Archives have been selling off their remaining inventory.

There's speculation that Sandpiper is run by some TT former employees reissuing some of their disks.

The only one I wanted but missed out on was this...

Picked up the Arrow but it would be nice to have this in region 1.

I doubt that as everyone at TT walked away from the business. There's speculation that Olive Films is involved with Sandpiper.

In any event, Sandpiper has been keeping a tight lid on who they are.

That was my take; hence the dead/dormant phrasing. Hopefully it is more the latter than the former. I am a fan of the label and have more TT titles in my collection than any other "Boutique" label. My sincere hope is that TT is planning on some new 4k releases as either 4k and Bluray or perhaps 4K combo and Blu releases ala Indicator.

A question for those of you who may have some insight on TT and how they did/do their packaging. All of my early purchases came in Blue cases. However, the second edition of Fright Night I was able to snag came in a clear case and subsequent purchases were mainly clear cases from there on out. My recent order all came in clear cases.

Does anyone know the history/methodology or the rationale behind what cases were used? I have kept all of my TT titles in the cases they came in except for the 1990 Night Of The Living Dead which I chose to repackage in a dual disc case and put my DVD in there. I did this because of the controversy/debate/discussion about the coloration choices used with the Blu transfer. The case that the movie came in was clear.

They're not planning anything. They're dead. Done. Gone. There's some remaining stock SAE bought up to sell off, and they bought the IP to slap on future releases but that didn't last long and even if it did it's TT in name only.

They revived the Twilight Time brand soon after with a handful of releases (e.g. The Man From Hong Kong) but without a major studio deal, they failed to gain much traction.

There's been speculation that former Olive employees are behind Sandpiper, not Twilight Time. It was the people who used to run Twilight Time's website who revived the brand in conjunction with Screen Archives.

Twilight Time originally released their titles in regular blue coloured Viva Elite cases.

When their manufacturer started using cheaper eco-lite versions of Viva Elite cases (the ones with the cut out holes in the shape of the recycling logo) without their consent, Twilight Time switched to a harder style of blue case similar to what Olive used to use.

That lasted for a little while but people didn't like those much either, so eventually Twilight Time were able to source clear Viva Elite cases and that became part of their overall look.

TT's trademark clear cases were/are so purty.

I don't see much point in Twilight Time even if they didn't shut down unless they decided to do UHDs, I don't buy Blu rays anymore if I can help it. The last TT discs I grabbed new were La Bamba, Vampires and Zardoz. Have a lot of nostalgia for them, but as everything gets a 4k version eventually I will retire all their stuff.

Much appreciated! That explains it well. I was looking at Viva Elite clear cases last night after work and they all had the Bluray markings on the top front. The TT ones were unmarked. The TT ones are also pretty flexible and seem a step above many of the cases in my collection except for the Criterion ones.

I would be gobsmacked if even half the TT Blus ever get a 4K.

The ones I own definitely will get UHDs. La Bamba will, Vampires will, Zardoz will, Christine did, Fright Night did. I will absolutely have to retire all the TT discs I own.

I really doubt Zardoz will anytime soon. It's a 20th Century Fox title locked with Disney.

There are quite a few 20th Century Fox titles that were TT releases, and those will probably be it for a long while.

I wonder if reaching out to Boorman could get the ball rolling on a UHD? Apparently Disney does license if the director requests it and has clout. Boorman certainly has the latter I would think. He's 91 though so time is of the essence.

It might help, but with Boorman being like 93 now the clock is probably ticking. I don't know if he really even has any form of online presence.

Kind of disheartening that none of his films have yet received the 4K treatment. It's criminal that Excalibur and Deliverance are still MIA.
