Wasn’t sure I was needing any more Twilight Times but ended up getting these:

Gidget is a replacement for a defective one I bought years ago. May take a second look now that the sale’s been extended.

I will never stop singing the praises of Warlock. Whether you like Western's or not, it should be in your collection. In fact, it's more of a character driven drama that happens to have a Western backdrop. A total gem.

Gosh, I miss Twilight Time Blu-rays. The Picnic one is a masterpiece.

Yeah, like so many others I missed this one. Still one of my most wanted TTs. That isolated score must be terrific.

I'm amazed after all these years that so many titles are still available after the liquidation sale. Not that I'm complaining because I was beyond late to the dinner party with the label. Still, I find it surprising that a Newman/Woodward vehicle like From the Terrace or a star turning performance from Gregory Peck in The Keys of the Kingdom couldn't sell 3,000 copies in nine years. After all similar titles like Peyton Place and The Song of Bernadette sold off in half the time. Poor Gregory Peck has the dubious distinction of having one of the longest titles to sell out with Beloved Infidel and may well be onto the record breaker with Keys. Shame because I'd argue it to be right with The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit as his greatest performance.

Probably because it's a relatively obscure website.

I'm glad I saw this though. I still had a few titles on my radar to get from them and just placed an order.

It really is! The Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing one is also fantastic.

My 4 blind buys:

Picked up Rock Hunter because the poodle on the front caught my eye, but dang it looks REALLY fun and colorful! Man in the Moon has Reese Witherspoon and looks like the kind of tragic coming of age that I sometimes just really crave. I loved Rebecca, so I picked up another Du Maurier adaption My Cousin Rachel, looks perfect for spooky season. And last but not least, I was not going to pass up the Marilyn movie.

The covers in the collection have a certain stylized feel to them that I find rather charming. I see Man in the Moon got another blu release through Sandpiper, but this cover is just really dang cute from the font to the photo color filter.

Welp, I held out... and then they extended the sale. So I went for it. After all, it's Twilight Time! I visit Screen Archives so rarely, that I honestly thought a few of these had disappeared forever, and more than once I'd regretted never picking up, as one example, Pretty Poison.

BLACK WIDOW (1954) (BLU-RAY)
CAPTAIN FROM CASTILE (1947) (BLU-RAY)
HILDA CRANE (1956) (BLU-RAY)
INSERTS (1975) (BLU-RAY)
MELVIN AND HOWARD (1980) (BLU-RAY)
PRETTY POISON (1968) (BLU-RAY)
STATE FAIR (1962) (BLU-RAY)
SUNSHINE (1973) (BLU-RAY)
WARLOCK (1959) (BLU-RAY)
WILL SUCCESS SPOIL ROCK HUNTER? (1957) (BLU-RAY)

Now if I can just live long enough to watch all these and all the Kinos I just bought. Sheesh.

I just bit at exactly 11:59pm EST on 7/6 because I had my doubts that the sale would continue into Monday.* That led to a little bit of a panic buy... probably bought more than I should have, probably missed a few.

Man, I used to keep up with Twilight Time's releases regularly, but the last time I bought from them was apparently October 2018! I've had a lot of great blind buys in the past, so I'm not too worried about these choices.

ALICE (1990)
ANNE OF THE THOUSAND DAYS (1969)
I COULD GO ON SINGING (1963)
L-SHAPED ROOM, THE (1962)
LET'S MAKE LOVE (1960)
MORITURI (1965)
NO DOWN PAYMENT (1957)
QUILLER MEMORANDUM, THE (1966)
RETURN OF FRANK JAMES, THE (1940)
SAYONARA (1957)
STONE KILLER, THE (1973)
SUDDENLY, LAST SUMMER (1959)
SUNSHINE (1973)
TALK RADIO (1988)
THE ADMIRABLE CRICHTON (AKA PARADISE LAGOON / 1957)
THE LAST HURRAH (1958)
THE QUIET AMERICAN (1958)
THE SNAKE PIT (1948)
WARLOCK (1959)
WHOLE TOWN'S TALKING, THE (1935)
WILL SUCCESS SPOIL ROCK HUNTER? (1957)

* I hate sales that say "expires at midnight Monday 7/7" because you never know if they mean the START of Monday or the END of Monday. Technically, midnight is 0:00, which is the START of a day, but many people think of midnight as the end of the day. It's much clearer if people say 11:59pm.

And just as a test, I now added an item to my cart and tried the code and it still works, so the sale should work throughout Monday. Guess I didn't need to rush

It's a reasonably faithful adaptation of a classic and influential
epic western novel by Oakley Hall, which was loosely inspired
by the life of Wyatt Earp. The novel was essentially about Tom
Morgan's hero-worship of Clay Blaisdell / Earp. The film simplifies
the story but the broad strokes are pretty good.

Still bummed TT didn’t last a little longer to put out some more Fox titles they had before the Disney merger.

I got my order in a couple days ago and realized that TT’s artwork and package design is very underrated. It seems simple, but a lot of thought and effort was clearly put into it. They did a good job of matching the style and tone of each film, even within their template. Their matching spines are my only gripe.

I ALWAYS appreciated the liner notes by Julie Kirgo.

She wrote appreciations, not criticisms.

I do wonder if TT would have eventually released films on 4K if Nick had still been around.
