I'd hate to rain on anybody's parade, but I had a first-class order from SAE that was "picked up" by the USPS in Lynden, VA on January 12th. Since then, according to the online tracking service, my shipment has yet to surface anyplace else.

Was there a huge snowfall in the state of Virginia back on the 12th of this month? I'm on the left coast, so I'm not too knowledgeable about east coast weather.

I have decided not to order with TT any longer. This is how my copy of The Last Detail was delivered. It is the 3rd time Cinram has sent a single disc in a oversized carton. I almost did not get it because the post office was being anal about leaving it at my door for some reason. IMO SAE is just as quick and they are better at packaging the discs.

I used the code to finally pick up the 2 TT film noir titles that have been on my SAE Wish List for ages: All the King's Men and Man in the Dark 3D.

Thanks for the code info!

Having fallen behind on my TT orders due to the holidays and work travel, I was finally able to catch up on most of my wanted list from December and January. Ordered these late last night from SAE:

The Last Detail
Hawaii
Born Free
The Detective
Kings Go Forth
1984
Harlock: Space Pirate
Scorpio
The Wild Eye
(Scorpion Releasing)

plus a couple of soundtracks

Got my shipping notice at noon today. SAE is still the best as far as I am concerned.

I picked up

Salvador
All the King' Men
Broadway Danny Rose
Nashville Girl (Scorpion)
Grizzly (Scorpion)
Brute Corps (CR)
Deadly Hero (CR)

I do really want The Last Detail, 1984, and Bound for Glory, but looking at the last couple years anniversary sales, they will almost certainly be included, so I can wait a couple months. But it is not clear if the older titles like Salvador, etc will be included. And since a sale of any type is so rare one SAE, I happy to take the chance. If I can just keep my wallet in my pocket during February.

Is Man in the Dark any good? I do like most noir, but I have read some so so reviews.

Objectively, I'd have to say it's not very good but I'm a fan of both Edmond O'Brien (looking forward to Kino's release of Shield for Murder ) and Audrey Totter so this discount was enough to get me to finally add it to my Film Noir collection.

I ordered:

Born Free and Man In The Dark 3-D using the 20% off code. I also picked up a soundtrack to ease the pain of their shipping costs.

I am going to save the Harlock coupon for their eventual annual sale and hope it doesn't expire by then since they haven't given an expiration date on it. If one of their guys could pop in and give a little more info on this coupon, that would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's usually older titles that are included, particularly ones that are moving slowly, not newer releases. Salvador is more likely to be on sale than The Last Detail.

That's a good savings, but the question is, should I wait until there is a bigger sale in the future to buy half a dozen titles I've been thinking about? I heard that on the annual anniversary sales, one can save $10 on each TT release (they go for $29.95 instead of $39.95). Can you or anyone else confirm this is true?

Last year and the year before they had anniversary sales where select titles were $10 off (so $19.95 instead of $29.95 - no TT title is $39.95, though some are $34.95), but I stress that it wasn't all of their titles on sale - the most recent releases and the hot selling titles were not on sale. If they have another one this year, I expect it to follow the same pattern. Another good way to save money is to wait until they have one of their signed promos. If it's a title you want, you get an autographed copy for free if you spend a certain amount on TT product (usually about 4-5 titles). Right now, with the 20% off if you buy 5 titles, you're basically getting one for free.

There is no guarantee there will be an annual sale. Twilight Time only initiated this sale in March 2014 and repeated it in March 2015. In both sales, not every title was included. If I recall correctly, many - but not all - titles released in previous years were included, but none of the titles released in January-March were part of the sale.

The SAE coupon applies to all titles available for purchase now, so if you want anything from December 2015 until today, I would jump.

Another way to look at the SAE 20% off code is that you pay about the same price per title as if you were taking advantage of a signed promo, without the limitation of being among the 100 or so people fortunate enough to snag one of these when they are offered.

Perhaps it's better on a 3D display (I watched in 2D), but seeing it once was enough for me. It's not that it was bad, it just was rather dull for being noir and also not that memorable. IMHO.

I was looking back through again and last year's Anny sale (Mar 2015) includes most titles from Jan-Dec of 2014. I may have been incorrect in thinking that the Jan titles were included. I don't have time to go back and check every single one, but it appears that they are included and then your older titles as well. I am not trying to tell anyone how to spend their money, but at least based on the past sale, it appears that it may behoove people to wait until the anniversary sale on the titles from 2015.

This is a link to the OP listing the titles available in last year's sale.

Yep, that is about what I heard. If it comes up in the $19.95 sale, I may pick it up. I can always unload it if I hate it

As my fellow Canadians can attest, our dollar is almost as bad as when it was called the "Canadian Peso" when I was child (when it was worth $0.63 USD), so any deals to be had from Twilight Time Blu-rays are always appreciated! I only picked up The Last Detail and Used Cars, which I've been meaning to pick up for a while (a recent viewing of Big Trouble in Little China reminded me that I still hadn't picked it up).

I remembered enjoying Man in the Dark 3D. It was an average movie, but the rollercoaster scene and the 3D in general made it a lot more fun to watch than it otherwise would have been.

Any 3D BD movie from the 50's I have to own and this is just another of those.

Thank you both for this valuable information.

I am indeed going to jump at this opportunity now and purchase 1984 and Born Free, two new titles that are brand new.

I meant to say $29.95, not $39.95.

Well I think everyone is going to talk me into picking up a few more just in case the anniversary sale never happens or my titles are not included.
