Not a MGM/UA picture, but any chance that Requiem For a Heavyweight (1962) will be released by Twilight Time? I know TT is releasing Director Ralph Nelson's other well known picture, Lilies of The Field in March, so I'm thinking this might be a possibility.

I do still think that including new extras on re-issues is provocative to those who bought earlier editions; a re-issue should be exactly and only that, imo. Or at least some accommodation should be made for those who helped sell-out the original run in the first-place: On proof of purchase, for example, they could be given codes to allow downloads of commentaries and bonus features. In any case, I welcome your announcement that these re-issues will not be par-for-the-course in future. I understand the realities of the business and have never minded paying a fair price for good films, well-presented; and I will continue to do so. |

Of the re-issues, I took the plunge on switching to the new versions of FRIGHT NIGHT (because I managed to snag the free autograph) and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH (new transfer!)...but I've skipped on MYSTERIOUS ISLAND and BIG HEAT and am keeping the originals. In both of those first two cases, I was able to get my money back on the original purchase because there's always interest in TT discs second-hand. Let TT do what makes them money and keeps them putting out great titles on blu-ray!

edit: scratch that Rollerball is a UA title too, so I definitely think that will be among the 4 edit2: I also missed the news about Thunderbolt getting a reissue in April Last edited by MifuneFan; 02-05-2016 at 07:46 PM. |

Probably because it gives TT a chance to release more movies that are new to the format. A movie that a reissue would likely displace. So it gives the unreleased movie a better chance to make it out. I'm rooting for the new movie myself. There are more than enough fine candidates out there.

Agreed.....although the version of One Million Years, B.C. that was recently shown on TCM was HD and was the uncut version....so it's out there. 2017 perhaps TT? On a side note, I have a feeling Warners/WAC will give us The Valley of Gwangi at the end of this year, too.

I'm hoping that THREE WORLDS OF GULLIVER is the next Harryhausen BD.
Most Wanted BDs: HARDCORE (1979), HUSH HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE, THREE WORLDS OF GULLIVER, 8MM, SHOCK TREATMENT (1964), THE INCIDENT, THE GLASS MENAGERIE (1987), EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS ON MAN-IN-THE-MOON MARIGOLDS, HOMICIDAL, PRIVATE PARTS (1972), RED SKY AT MORNING, GIRLS TOWN (1959). |

I'm in for both, but I think One Million Years B.C. has wider appeal, it would have to be a 5000 unit release, and it may still sell out quick.

TT is starting to move through Fox's noir catalog, so it's a possibility. Of those three, we would probaby see Kiss of Death first, but I'm guessing that other Fox noirs would come before any of those three.

I agree but let's not forget The Mark of Zorro, Untamed and The Long Gray Line! Still, CfC is still my favorite film and I think the soundtrack would be right up TTs alley. Also love the real-life volcanic activity in the film (which wasn't special effects)!
