What they have said is once the 3 year window is over they have first dibs for another pressing. They never implied there would never be any re-issues. Honestly, what is the problem? People complain about films going OOP right away, then complain when there is a re-issue. There is no rule set in stone on anything of this. When it comes to catalog titles on Blu-ray, be happy that you are still getting titles. Because physical media is dwindling and may cease to exist 10 years from now.

I think you could count out Wild at Heart since Rollerball was announced and The Train is confirmed. The fourth will be Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia because sales were brisk and Nick Redman is a huge Peckinpah fan.

Like I said before, not reissuing a movie just opens the door for another movie that hasn't been released at all on Blu-ray. Look at the bright side. IMO, Blu-ray in general has far too many reissues and too few debut releases. The format as it is releases only a fraction of the catalog that DVD does.

A cute-as-a-button Jane Fonda, Nat King Cole, Stubby Kaye, Lee Marvin and a drunken horse. What's not to love? Cat Ballou may not be the funniest comedy western ever (that distinction goes to Blazing Saddles), but it's my favorite. Very re-watchable.

This year 4 MGM/UA titles, the just announced Rollerball, plus Thunderbolt & Lightfoot (April) The Train (later this year) and a 4th which I am going guess to be Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia.

The Member of the Wedding (1952) is directed by Fred Zinnemann, one of the greats of cinema. I have never seen it, but I am most definitely in for this one. Based on the 1946 novel by Carson McCullers and a subsequent stage play adaption (with many of the play's cast starring in the movie), it is a coming of age story set in the South. It was the film Zinnemann made between High Noon and From Here to Eternity.
The more Zinnemann we get on Blu-ray, the more that is right with the world. Last edited by oildude; 02-06-2016 at 10:16 PM. |
