Default The Big Heat Reissue

Can anyone here give me a grade on the picture/audio quality of The Big Heat reissue? There are some BD scan numbers a couple of pages back, but I don't understand what that means or how it compares to the first release.

Thanks in advance for the help!

PQ is pretty much the same as the first edition. You can check the following Beaver review.

In reading his obituary online tonight, I was struck by his humility and his humanity.

And then there is this:

Goodbye to one of the greats. I always knew him as a classic actor, but reading this makes me realize he was also a classic individual. Thanks for all the memories over the years, Mr. Kennedy. One of the actors I grew up watching my whole life. You most certainly will be missed by fans everywhere.
George Kennedy was my favorite living character actor. Since this is in the TT thread, TT needs to release Fool's Parade. It has never been on home video. It is George Kennedy's best performance.

George Kennedy was awesome. I had no idea he had still been with us until this weekend. He reminds me of my growing up years, I feel like he was someone who would pop up in so many movies and shows.

I placed an order for 10 Rillington Place and Anastasia. Everyone must be at the Kino forum with wishlists now that Kino has a deal with 20th Century Fox.

Are they still doing that dumb buy like 10 copies of one film? They should not allow that.

They only limit the numbers when it's a title they know is popular and will sell quickly like Fright Night. Scalpers are seriously going to take a bath if they buy up ten copies of 10 Rillington Place thinking that they're going to make a profit on them.

Okay, just to make some noise in here ...

These are some of my memories of seeing The Last Detail for the first time back in 1973 (which mostly have nothing to do with the movie) ...

Warning: You might be really bored by this.

[Show spoiler]2nd chance: You can still turn back.

[Show spoiler]Okay last chance: Woe is you. Onward ...

[Show spoiler]The Set-Up: It was my first year after graduating from high school. I shared the first floor of a small house with 3 other roommates. (We were scraping to save a buck or 2, as we were all continuing on with school after high school). Our floor had 1 bedroom ... which went to the only one of us who had a girlfriend at the time. The other 3 of us slept on roll-away fold-out beds. Every night we would unfold the beds to sleep in this one room. Then every morning we would fold the beds up again and roll them against the wall. I was 17 (soon to be 18) at the time.

The Story: I remember at least 3 of us going to see The Last Detail, which was playing at a theater close to where we lived. We didn't know who Jack Nicholson was at the time, but we knew he was nominated for Best Actor for this movie. We didn't really know anything about the movie either, but figured it must be good since it was up for a few Academy Awards. I guess you could call it a "blind buy" for us. I won't throw out any spoilers about the movie itself, other than I thought it was on the gritty side (in a good way) ... definitely kept my interest ... very good! When it was over, we were all stumped as to how this Jack Nicholson guy could have been nominated for that performance ... unless awards were given out for lots of cussing. (I shake my head in puzzlement at that assessment today). Little did we know "Jack" was about to become a superstar. The Last Detail (and the circumstances of my life at the time) has stuck in my head all these years later. I bought the TT release but haven't revisited it yet. It's high on my "to watch" list. (I'm trying to remember if I ever saw it again since 1973. If I did, it was a very, very long time ago).

[Show spoiler]You can't say I didn't warn you.

My ongoing delivery saga with Canada Post continues--I received an expected delivery date of Feb. 19 for The Last Detail and Used Cars BDs I ordered from SAE in late January, but to date I still have not received my package. The last update on the Canada Post site said "Processed in Mississauga on Feb. 13" and when I called CP yesterday, they told me they couldn't do anything and that I had to contact the sender. I emailed SAE yesterday, asking them to look into it, but they haven't responded yet. It's very strange, as I have never had an issue with any shipment from either SAE or TT themselves. It definitely shouldn't take 33 days--even with a detour through Canada Customs--to arrive in Calgary!

They still charging 34.95 for catalog films with no extras? Maybe that's why there are crickets.

I just watched The Big Heat today and it was worth every penny of the $30+ I paid for it.
