For the record, yes, I would consider a sale which is marketed so well that everybody who is aware of the company is aware of the sale to be "widely announced", that being one of the advantages that their niche releases have in terms of maximizing their marketing dollar. I would like to point out that comparing a sale directly from a label to a sale from one of the biggest retailers in the country in terms of visibility would seem to again be an example of your very very obvious bias here, but at the same time you're being so ridiculously aggressive about this whole thing that the point hardly seems worth pursuing.

Bias towards what exactly? I've purchased 10 TT movies in the last 2 months and only 3 KL titles. I paid an average price of $12 shipped on the Kinos and the average on the TT was about $24 thanks to the sale even buying in that kind of quantity.

But, for instance, the bias that allows you to keep saying "It's $20 difference per title! That's a fact!" while posting various sets of numbers that are significantly different from that.

OK, fellas. This discussion and debate between you two regarding sales comparisons and TT prices has run its course. Please turn to other topics not related to TT's method of business and sales.

We've had multiple pages already in addition to this latest back-and-forth; all this should be enough to satisfy anyone's horseflesh beating fantasies for the time being.

Thanks for your cooperation.... and understanding.

I watched The Hound of the Baskervilles this weekend. Loved it. Old school Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing are hard to beat. I think Peter Cushing's Sherlock Holmes is among my favorites and it is a shame no more films in the series were made with him in the lead role. This is among the topics discussed in the special features, which are excellent. The two commentaries go into many aspects of the film, the actors, Hammer Studios, the director and crew, how the hound was created and the compromises that resulted. I only occasionally watch commentaries, but I devoured both of the ones on this disc and found them to be very informative, frequently funny, and greatly enhanced my appreciation and enjoyment of the film.

Excellent movie! Cushing kills it. Not only is there a curiosity to me why they didn't make more SH movies but also how Hammer got the rights to do this one. It really is a shame more movies weren't done.

I just finished watching my Twilight Time Blu-ray of Broken Lance, and am now enjoying the commentary track.

Broken Lance, which is basically a western retelling of Shakespeare's King Lear, stars the legendary Spencer Tracy as a stern rancher whose relationship with his four sons leads to envy, resentment, and even violence. Richard Widmark, a stalwart of classic-era film noir and of many westerns, stars as the eldest son, while Robert Wagner (from the Hart to Hart TV series) is the favored youngest son who is born to a different mother. The gorgeous Jean Peters (Pickup on South Street, Niagara) has some great moments as the love interest of Wagner's character. Katy Jurado, whom most people recognize as the saucy Mexican babe in High Noon, lends some serious emotional heft to this film with her role as the wife and mother who tries to keep the family from disintegrating.

This CinemaScope movie features some unbelievably picturesque scenes of the Arizona film locations. Broken Lance is also notable for being an early example of a movie with environmental themes, by way of an interaction that the main characters have with the owner of a copper mine that is dumping wastes into the river that feeds cattle.

This Blu-ray features a wondrous video presentation that is befitting of this movie's use of colors and wide open space landscapes. The dialogue sometimes sounds somewhat muted on the audio front, but, for the most part, the audio quality is stellar, with the music score and sound effects coming in perfectly. The commentary track, with Nick Redman and actor Earl Holliman, who plays one of the four sons, is a good listen.

The Tracy western in CinemaScope I really want Is Bad Day at Black Rock. Such a great cast and the scenes between Tracy and Ryan are marvelous.

Yes, thank you. It makes me want to claw my eyes out reading the same crap being parroted from 2012 from people thinking they're making some kind of revelatory argument about Twilight Time's prices. Then I go to other threads where people proudly talk about buying additional copies of movies they already own because it now comes in Steelbook packaging or a replica toy of some vehicle from the film. Go figure.

It's a wonderful film, more Hammer than Doyle. Cushing did make more appearances as Holmes though, starring in the excellent BBC series in the late 60s which even included another version of Baskervilles. He also played Holmes in the 1984 TV movie Masks of Fear.

All, Miss Sadie Thompson 3D was briefly unavailable for sale on twilighttimemovies.com due to a glitch with our inventory level software. This has been corrected - and the title is now available again. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Watched my copy of The Big Heat last night and really enjoyed it. I'm really thankful that TT decided to reissue this title so that I could have the opportunity to watch it in HD. Glenn Ford played a terrific detective and had some great badass moments.

After recognizing Gloria Grahame (whom I only really knew as Violet Bick from It's A Wonderful Life) I got led down the rabbit hole of her interesting and somewhat tragic life. I would really enjoy it if someone put out an HD version of The Bad and the Beautiful, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

You should check her out in In A Lonely Place which was released by Criterion. The Bad and the Beautiful is a good film but despite her Oscar she's barely in it.

Will do. I almost picked that up during my first trip for the B&N sale but might end up grabbing it next week when I go back for a few more titles.

I've got quite a few of TT titles left to view for the first time, most of them are blind buys for me. The only one that has sort of let me down so far was The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. I got it during an autograph promotion last year and it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Same here, got it in a promo and was a bit disappointed overall though Smith was good in it, I ended up imagining it was Minerva McGonall in her prime.

What is ya'lls thoughts on the Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte release?

Fast seller or will it take awhile like most Twilight releases?

It was released twice on DVD, so the film hasn't been rare, precious, and beautiful. I think it will sell well, but won't be an instant sellout. As for me, it will be a Day One purchase.

I'd still like to see TT release a BD of HOMICIDAL, with Hugo Friedhofer's moody score isolated on an audio track. The score has never been released on LP or CD, to my knowledge.
