I think the sale had a lot to do with it. Now that the sale is over, I would expect there to be fewer unexpected sell-outs.

I had just been too busy and spending too much money lately to buy anything during the March sale, but I had been following earlier in the month, because I could have been compelled if a title I wanted was going to sell out. Yet for some reason blu-ray.com stopped sending me notifications of new posts on this thread after March 20 and I only realized that today. Two weeks of missed updates! I looked back through the messages apprehensively, as I read that title after title had sold out in the past two weeks. I kept worrying that something I had wanted had managed to sell out unexpectedly. Luckily, all the sellouts were titles I already owned, or in the case of Lilies in the Field, a title I didn't want. But, man, I'd be kicking myself if I had missed those titles because of the two week lapse in notifications.

I think at 10,000 units people won't feel rushed to purchase this the day the pre-order goes live and worry that it will sell out immediately. With that said, I still feel strongly that Panic Room, especially with great extras and transfer, would sell out at the 10,000 unit mark and wouldn't have to resort to a sale price to do so. Remember, Panic Room, at least as far as my knowledge, does not have a blu-ray release in any other country. So, people from all over the world would have to purchase this from Twilight Time and/or Screen Archives if they wanted to own it and there wouldn't be any region free versions from a foreign market for United States citizens to buy from either. I feel strongly enough that I would be willing to bet that a 3,000 unit pressing sells out the day the pre-order goes live (scalpers would be all over this print size), 5,000 sells out during pre-order stage, and 10,000 sells out a month or two after official release. I think Twilight Time could get a good idea how many units they could sell in a given time frame by measuring the units Criterion sold of The Game (blu-ray) during the time frame Twilight Time is using as a measurement. If Twilight Time has contacts at Criterion, maybe they could ask nicely for rough estimates on the units The Game sold during the first year of it's release. The Game and Panic Room, in my opinion, are on the same level of popularity among Fincher fans when measuring his catalog of films, so The Game is a good film to use for comparing units sold to the hypothetical units Panic Room would/could sell.

Yeah. Especially considering Twilight Time fans' wallets are worn out from the good sales on Twilight Time's and Screen Archive's websites the past few months. Additionally, many people may wait to purchase titles until the next sale roles around, especially considering some of the good prices we got from the recent sales.

My haul from the sale from Twilight Time's website:
1. Lilies of the Field (Historically important film, so felt like it needed to be in my collection. My old American Studies professors would love I picked this up.)
2. Mississippi Burning (Watched this film many times and always enjoyed it, but always procrastinated picking this up cause I already owned an ultraviolet version of the film. Decided to pull the trigger as stock gets closer and closer to being sold out.)
3. Eureka (blind buy. I didn't even watch a trailer or read reviews. Read the short synopsis and just took a shot in the dark. Fun to be a little spontaneous once in a while LOL.)

Only films I wanted that sold out were Moby Dick and 10 to Midnight. I already own 10 to Midnight, but I can't find it and don't know if someone stole it or what. Want to purchase a copy of either or both from someone for a fair price--item can be opened and not new, because I'm gonna open anyway. I have some Twilight Time titles that are sold out--some unopened and new still--that I would be willing to use for trade as well.

It was also part of the 7 for 70 bundle (which is still active BTW).

I added Lilies, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Agreed about In The Heat of the Night needing a special edition release. I would add that immedistely. I'm thinking something along the lines of My Fair Lady. The best remaster, a wealth of extras, and delux packaging to boot.

If anything, I would expect PANIC ROOM to have a wider appeal than THE GAME. It did about twice the box office. I do think they average out to about the same among Fincher fans, but I would also say that's because THE GAME has really strong supporters and really rabid detractors, where PANIC ROOM everybody thinks "Yeah, that was pretty good".

I think that most of the movies that Twilight Time releases would not be famous enough that Best Buy would carry them (if they were available from a distributor that did business with Best Buy). I think PANIC ROOM is.

There's an awful lot of speculation about Panic Room here, I remember when it was first brought up years ago that TT would be releasing it when the 4K remaster was done. Does anyone really have an idea about when that will happen though?

I have a few titles Im waiting to go on sale The Detective, Peyton Place & the Tony Rome set so thats prob enough for my sale list right???!

No idea. They said they were waiting for the remaster and that's the last anyone has heard from them on the subject. And that was years ago. For all we know, they could no longer have it. There's a couple other titles I'm far more interested in (Seven-Ups and Hot Rock) that they've also indicated they're waiting for new masters to be provided (from Fox) that we've heard neither hide nor hair from them about either.

I think they are not going to say anything about a actual release until they have confirmation. The last bit of information I know about is that Sony has not provided a timeline on when the 4k remaster would be complete. So I would not get my hopes too high about a release soon.

The Seven-Ups on the other has a 4k remaster in the works, and I would guess a release will happen sooner than later. Next year for its 45th Aniv. perhaps?
