Just watched my Blu-ray of The Other (1972) and what a fantastic movie. I absolutely loved it.

I actually bought it off ebay for like $18.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but several customers who made a recent purchase from Twilight Time Movies were shipped duplicate orders. You were one of those customers. To avoid incurring a charge for this shipment, please print and affix the included return label to the duplicate package and drop off at a convenient UPS location
[*NOTE: In fairness to TT, I want to clarify that this email I reference was sent not by TT but from Noreply.Twilight@technicolor.com . My email responses from the actual Twilight Time representatives have been friendly & apologetic.*]

Even though I contacted them two weeks ago on my own accord asking "How should I return these duplicate copies?"

The shipping label JPEG they sent me by email... the label image was surrounded by a black void comprising the rest of the scan frame. I had to crop the label in Photoshop so my printer wouldn't waste ink on the black void surrounding the label!

When I brought it to the UPS store I had them make sure my return label scanned properly. Fortunately it did.

So strange though. This is the first time I've printed a return label that was an uncropped photocopy.

Same experience as GG Pan with the JPEG shipping label. Very strange, but whatever works I guess.

Yes. The Only Game In Town is apparently down to just 15 copies.

I'm actually kind of pissed off with Twilight Times response with the return label (that I couldn't print from my phone because it's a jpeg instead of a pdf like EVERY other return label I've received from a company, ever). The threat to charge us if the items aren't returned was pretty much my last straw with them. No more ordering from their website, and I might not buy any of their stuff from Screen Archives ever again either.

The last e-mail I got from TT themselves about a week ago had 9 to 5 at under 350 copies on their site.

In fact, I found the list for TT.com

Less Than 350 Copies Remaining:

$19.95
9 TO 5
PRETTY POISON
HOMBRE

$9.95
AMERICAN BUFFALO

Less Than 200 Copies Remaining:

$14.95
APRIL LOVE
FLAMING STAR

Less Than 100 Copies Remaining:

$14.95
THE VANISHING
STORMY WEATHER

$9.95
CHE!
SAVE YOUR LEGS!

Less Than 50 Copies Remaining:

$14.95
RIFF-RAFF / RAINING STONES (2 BY KEN LOACH)
THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE
THE ST. VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRE

As far as SAE? No clue.

But I grabbed 9 to 5 and Two For The Road from them, because sale ends tomorrow.

I'm just curious, but apart from people advising them that they received an extra package, how would TT (or their shipping contractor) know that you received an extra order? I'm assuming by tracking number, right? Is it not illegal to demand payment for unsolicited items being sent to you? I mean, if they charged you for something you didn't order (i.e. a second shipment of movies), can you not file a claim with your credit card company? I mean, you'd probably be blacklisted from ordering from them again, but do they have a leg to stand on with this threat? (I don't live in the United States, so forgive me if my questions sound naive in certain aspects).

True this was TT mistake but if you have any respect for TT to stay in business I'd think you'd be grateful to return the duplicate order so others have a chance at buying them. TT isn't flooded with cash and most profits from sales go towards licensing future titles.

Honesty is always nice from customers otherwise it just sounds like one would want to not return them and try to resale them for a profit an expect not to be charged.

As far as printing the label... I just sent it to my computer and acted like I was going to forward the email erased all the text and just resized the label to make it smaller and then printed it.

Also for those who question how TT's distributor would know you got a duplicate package That would be easy each duplicate order was shipped with the same exact order # and each invoice was given its own # and assigned a tracking #.

It's just a hassle. And it's a hassle that was created on their part. The tone in that warning that we would be charged for something we didn't order was also something I really didnt appreciate. They waited two weeks then came back with what feels like a half-ass response.

I mean, I want to support smaller labels for the most part, but not enough to feel like I as a consumer am a afterthought and am being disrespected.

That could have re-phrased that they will charge you if not returned. I'd guess this is Technicolor that made that statement since they shipped out the dups.

We quite understand your feelings - as we're sure you can understand ours - this is all Technicolor's responsibility - both the double-shipping, and the problems with return labels. It is very, very hard to make any kind of headway with a monolithic corporation and we will have to make a change. In fact, next week's pre-orders will only be available for purchase at SAE while we figure out what to do with the fulfillment problems at the TT site. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I appreciate the response. I will try to figure a way to print the jpeg (I'm having issues with my PC at the moment so I was trying to print from my phone). At least I know to save my ire for Technicolor. Maybe when this whole mess gets sorted I'll order the three other releases I've been eyeing (but will probably order from Screen Archives).

Perhaps the silver lining is that maybe when all is said and done, they may have some thought out of stock titles.

I really wanted Heaven Knows Mr Alison and Man Hunt.

I had them in my cart and was waiting for pay day. When payday arrived, poof those two were gone.

Maybe some of the double orders contains those two.
Twilight Time, Do you know off hand if any of those two titles are in the duplicate orders?

If not no big deal. I'm sure I can find them somehow. I spent way too much on the sale anyway...something like 220 dollars. Honestly there was more that I wanted, but sadly this was all I can afford right now.

They absolutely cannot legally charge you for something they sent you but that you did not order. The fact that they threatened this somehow managed to take a debacle and make it even worse.

But is it really considered unsolicited merchandise if it's a duplicate order, in error, that a customer ordered?

Remember, these are limited edition releases and if the duplicate shipments aren't returned then another customer, or another member of our community, may not receive their order. Bottom line, it would be morally wrong not to return the duplicate shipment after the shipper provided a postage paid return shipping label.

It was just a hypothetical question. Of course it would be immoral to keep them but if they wanted to get heavy-handed about it, would they really have a case? I'm sure if the messages sent to the customers involved didn't come across as so accusatory, we wouldn't even be discussing this right now.
