Yes, he's basically third lead. Or a large supporting character, anyway. He's the fight trainer to Elvis (it's sort of a boxing movie,LOL). Not a bad Elvis vehicle.

There are famous rumors that Bronson was jealous of Elvis in real life during the shoot because everyone was always fawning over Elvis. A story goes that Elvis was starting to get into his martial arts stuff, and he laid a large tree branch between two picnic tables and then karate chopped it and broke it. Everyone was oh-so-impressed except Bronson, who yelled, "Buuuulllls**t!!" . Bronson then proceeded to show everyone that he could do it as well. Then, another actor said shortly after, he went around back of a building there and found Bronson privately squirming in pain holding his hand, saying, "Jeeesus!" LOL!

I worked temporary at a postal distribution center many years ago.

Most mail (Priority, First Class) comes in, is sorted and then goes out to planes to hub airports/distribution centers (JFK, ATL, SFO, etc.)

When Express Mail comes in, everybody stops what they're doing and immediately sorts it and it goes out within minutes. That's how you get it in one day.

Media Mail is usually separated out for "when we get to it". So when the flood of regular mail has mostly been put into containers waiting for airport freight handlers, okay, let's add the Media Mail. Or, wow, what a brutal day, we'll get to that stuff tomorrow...

So, yeah, sometimes it's no different than First Class, and sometimes it's just sitting there for a day or three. On either end.

Darn, the Kino sale cleared me out and I just got the John Wayne Collection with Rio Lobo and Big Jake. Not to mention I still have my pre-order of Good, Bad, and the Ugly waiting. Then I got to pay for my monthly Amazon Prime on the 20th. Though whenever my $13.96 refund comes from Amazon which should be soon. I might have to pickup Guess Who's Coming to Dinner seeing as I just got my $2 coupon. Way cheaper than the anniversary version released by Sony.

What is with the constant sales from TT these days? I feel like they're screwing themselves, as people are just going to wait for the sales going forward...

I think they've accepted the reality that they're not going to sell 3000 copies of every title at $30 a pop. There are buyers who want their favorite films as soon as they can get them and are willing to pay the premium, and there are buyers who are more price-sensitive and patient. TT is trying to sell to both groups. They're trying to move inventory and keep the lights on.

I wish them luck.

They are moving to a model that works for them.

Many of these titles would never sell out at $30 + exaggerated shipping.

Put them at $15 or $10 and I pick up a stack of them. Some titles will never need to go on drastic sale to sell out, but those that don't need some help are on the rare end of things.

How is it any different than Criterion? Who actually pays close to retail? I own a ton of them and I haven't had to in about 10 years now, before they started releasing blurays at all.

I'm not trying to insult Twilight Time - if this works, good for them. I just thought the money calculations were such that they had to sell them for this high a price in order to turn a profit. If you go back in the thread about 2 years or so, there are people bemoaning the lack of price reductions followed by defenses of "this is just how it is, you want them to stay in business right?"

I understand eventually capitulating on certain titles that aren't selling well - accepting the loss, lowering the price to try to recoup whatever you can, and moving on. But these sales aren't just for the old stragglers - titles that are just 1-2 months old are being included. It seems like a fundamental change in policy.

Maybe studio licensing fees are lowering over time, allowing TT to be more flexible. Maybe they've decided they're fine with less final profit if it means turning the stock over quicker. Maybe it's something else. And therein lies my curiosity.

I think it's a simple case of the market dictating matters. No matter what Twilight Time says about how much they need to sell, if people aren't willing to pay $30 a pop for many of these movies and they just end up gathering dust, it's better to lower prices and stoke interest. I'm sure many people will pick up a few sale titles and maybe throw in a more popular full-priced title or two as well which is what I usually do.

They've hinted in recent interviews that they are possibly getting out of the game in the not too distant future (2019?). So I can imagine part of the consistent sales is so that when they do stop doing new releases they don't have nearly as much stock on hand to warehouse.
