Never mind Sony did a 50th anniversary release earlier this year. I sent emails to 2 different website wanting to cancel my order for Guess Who's Coming To Dinner. Since Sony released it I can wait a little longer to buy it since that release isn't limited to 3,000 lol

Watched Scorpio today, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I bought the Blu-ray during the previous SAE sale because the synopsis intrigued me. I enjoy those spy/agent on the run films like Three Days of the Condor and The Bourne Identity and this one seemed similar. Have to say that I wasn't disappointed. I did watch it immediately because the disc has circular light scratches, I was worried it wasn't going to play but there were no freezes or anything of the sort. Anyone else got a disc like that? I'm not sure if I should email TT or not.

That's interesting. I bought Scorpio when it first came out on Blu-ray two years ago, but it has languished in my unwatched stack. I should give it a go soon to make sure that all plays well.

I've been waiting on Hour of the Gun for a while now. I've been interested in the mythology around the so-called gunfight at the OK Corall, especially the sequence of events that came to be known as the "vengeance ride," which this film covers. A great cast in a widescreen western helmed by John Sturges?

I'm in.

I'm loving the cover art on those two westerns. I'm assuming they're both from original poster art? I'd like to see Sunset get a blu release (James Garner's other Wyatt Earp film). It's not a great film by all means but it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

Really would love to see Day of the Outlaw get a release. I have a 3-movie DVD from years back featuring these 2 and De Toth's western is easily the best in the set. Can't go wrong with Ryan vs. Ives in a snowy setting.

GIDGET finally in full CinemaScope!! That old Sony box set of the three Gidget films only had full-frame transfers.

I just checked TCM's airing of GIDGET last week. After letterboxed credits, the film reverted to full-frame, so I deleted the DVR recording at that point. I was shocked that TCM would air it in full-frame.

Thanks to TT for restoring the film in widescreen (that's my presumption). BANANAS is a fave of mine, too.

Day One for me!

Can't say I share Martin's enjoyment of "Scorpio". The ingredients are there for an excellent spy thriller, but Michael Winner is simply unable to execute. Lancaster, Delon, and Scofield are all great, but Winner is unable to flesh the story out with enough coherence so that the viewer cares at all what is going on. Films like this require very deft direction IMO. Winner was great at directing over the top action films or movies that didn't require a lot of plot development, but this film was out of his range IMO. A director like Frankenheimer or Lumet could have elevated this film quite a bit.
