There are two- Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine(1965) and Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs(1966- directed by Mario Bava). They are not upper echelon Vincent Price movies, but they are supposed to be comedies.

Thanks JasonMichael. I'm very tempted to make a blind purchase seeing as they are available on blu-ray.

Vincent Price has always been one of my favourite actors and for me, even if the film isn't a particularly great one, his presence in it is enough to make that film very watchable indeed.

He is great. This morning I was watching a TV special he appeared in back in 1975, The Nightmare, which was Alice Cooper performing his Welcome To My Nightmare album. Price was in the hour and six minute show for about 5 minutes total, but was great. The show is only available on DVD, but that doesn't matter too much as it was shot to video tape. Picture quality was good considering the source, and the booklet includes a reproduction of a note from Vincent and his wife to Alice and his manager thanking them and hoping to do more together in the future. As classy a guy as he was talented as an actor.

DR GOLDFOOT AND THE GIRL BOMBS is by Price's admission his least favorite film.

Another great Price comic performance is HIS KIND OF WOMAN, available on DVD from the Warner Archive.

Did they have such a guideline? I don't recall seeing that. I know they said they wouldn't do re-issues of movies they already released anymore.

I still own my original Betamax release of the Nightmare.

Was very grateful when the DVD was finally released.

Yeah, I don't recall that they ever said that, either.

Besides, in this case, and depending on the level of work done on a new restoration, it could reasonably considered a "debut".

Oh, yes...back when they first began in 2011, their original mission statement was to bring to disc (DVD at first, blu-ray a few months later) movies that had never received a home video release at all. That, of course, quickly changed (when they signed their deal with Sony and released MYSTERIOUS ISLAND and FRIGHT NIGHT), but they were still only releasing films on blu-ray that were format debuts in North America. I followed them on the forum at Film Score Monthly at the time and recall instances when they shot down requests for re-issues of films which had gone out of print elsewhere because they only wanted to do format debuts.

Unfortunately, each new announcement and request was a completely new thread, so it'll take me some searching. I'll see if I can't find examples tomorrow. In the meantime, this link is to the first thread with their launch announcement. The third paragraph from the bottom in the first post mentions their original intention:

I have seen a couple of interviews Vincent Price did here in the UK, and he always came across as a very warm, gentle person who was perfectly happy to talk about his films. A true gentleman, greatly missed. Here is one he did with David Frost back in 1970:

You won't regret it. It's top-tier Vincent Price, and we get Ronald Coleman to boot.

Other than to support Twilight Time, is there any reason why it's an easy double dip?

  • Harpo Marx as Sir Isaac Newton
  • Chico Marx as Monk
  • Virginia Mayo as Cleopatra
  • Agnes Moorehead as Queen Elizabeth I
  • Peter Lorre as Nero
  • Charles Coburn as Hippocrates
  • Sir Cedric Hardwicke as High Judge
  • Cesar Romero as Spanish Envoy
  • John Carradine as Khufu
  • Dennis Hopper as Napoleon Bonaparte
  • Marie Wilson as Marie Antoinette

I'd like to see THE STORY OF MANKIND in Blu-ray. I'm not certain that the MOD from WA is in the correct aspect ratio.

I don't think that the Marx Brothers appear together, which is kind of cool in itself.
