If worst comes to worse than contact SAE support. It could be worse, there are people still WAITING for their Kino shipments from their big sale in June.
Thanks, I just checked Peyton Place on Twilight Time's site and it said it was back-ordered until July 10th. I then went back and checked SAE's site and they said it was pre-ordered until early July. Very strange, but I guess I need to be a little more patient.

“Kiss of Death” had the same thing of “pre-order” on SAE when people had cancelled orders. I guess it’s SAE’s way of saying back-ordered. “Peyton Place” is definitely worth the wait for its Maine scenery, Waxman’s score, and epic-styled soap opera goodness. Fox and TT really hit it out with the transfer and presentation.

I blind-bought Peyton Place during one of the 15/15 sales and watched it a few weeks ago. I really enjoy those lush 50s melodramas, they're corny but fun. The Best of Everything is another one that I found myself really liking.

I still have a large backorder from the Fox sale at SAE, an order I placed on June 13, but I believe it's being held up by the delayed release of the soundtrack to Advise & Consent, which was originally scheduled for mid-June. It's been rescheduled for mid-July, so the fault is mine, or rather, Kritzerland's. Among the Twilight Time titles on that shipment will be Peyton Place; I'll let you know if the Advise & Consent CD becomes "in stock" and my order is still held up.

It will be available at both sites simultaneously but if you are shipping it to Canada, I would go with Screen Archives as their shipping rates are cheaper ($8 USD vs. $12.92 USD for one item).

Are you planning on just buying this or more items? If you buy like 3 or 4 items from them the shipping at Screen Archives to Canada is around $10 so it's more cost effective and they'll come in a cardboard box instead of a padded mailer.

They might also have another 15/15 deal in mid to late August or so, which would also lower your costs across the board if there's anything else you'd like to buy.

Pre-order date: Wednesday, August 8th at 4 pm EST

Directed by John Dexter (The Sidelong Glances of a Pigeon Kicker - no, I am not making that up....best name for a movie ever)

Starring:

Lynn Redgrave (Tom Jones, The Deadly Affair)
Hywell Bennett (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Twisted Nerve)
Nigel Davenport (Play Dirty, The Last Valley, Zulu Dawn, Sinful Davey, A Man for All Seasons, Chariots of Fire)
Nigel Patrick (Raintree County, The Sea Shall Not Have Them, Battle of Britain, Sapphire)

Some Interesting Trivia
  • Debut performance in a cinema movie for singer David Bowie. He is uncredited and a bit player easily overlooked....the fun is in spotting him.
  • The movie featured an Asian call-girl character who had the memorable name of "Juicy Lucy". She was played by former You Only Live Twice (1967) Bond Girl Tsai Chin

A film he probably made on the strength of his identification with the title. As a theatre director, Dexter was a notorious curmudgeon: when Tom Baker, who was appearing as a spear carrier in a play Dexter directed at the National Theatre, excitedly told him that he'd just been cast as Rasputin in Nicholas and Alexandra, Dexter snapped at him “Of course you’re going to be in a movie. You are so boring, Baker, the only thing left for you is to be in movies. Now get out of my office!”

Watched Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice 3 times last night, and really enjoyed the two different commentaries.

I was 11 in 1969, and never got another opportunity in the 49 years between.
