I could be wrong, but did TT stop releasing DVDs? Looks like they are focused on Blu-ray, which is a good thing. I have nothing against DVDs. In fact I still own close to 1,000 of them, but I Blu-ray makes up 99% of my movie purchases. If I had unlimited income, I would still be purchasing more DVDs. I currently have 500 Blu-ray in my price tracker and falling behind.

I can see myself falling into this category. As TT's catalog grows, so does my interest in movies I passed on the 1st (or 2nd or 3rd) time around.

One of the very first movies I ever saw in a theater, 1966. Have the DVDs and have been debating on adding them to the Blu-ray.com database forever. Now that we have a studio and a date, I added them last night, so you can all officially put them on your Wishlist!

A favorite line: Flint's boss comes to his penthouse bachelor pad which has giant bookcases filled with a thousand books...

Flint! Have you read all these books??

Oh, no sir... I wrote them.

Yes... With his incredible abilities and accomplishments, Flint was very much like a playfully egotistical Doc Savage. He was also emotional and sexual, two other things Doc was not.

I think last fall, around the time Mysterious Island was released, they said TT would be Blu-ray only from now on...because collectors clearly favoured the high definition format. TT's one and only release in both Blu-ray and DVD formats was The Egyptian, and sales of the former were dramatically higher than the latter...so the writing was on the wall.

I bought most of TT's early DVDs (or got them for free via that SAE combo deal early this year), because I really wanted to see those movies. And frankly, for SD DVDs, most of them have delivered very high quality and good overall value. For the price of a studio MOD DVD-R ($19.95), you get a pro authored and pressed DVD, with Isolated Score Track, plus slick Julie Kirgo essay booklet...packaged just as nicely as TT's Blu-rays. As DVDs go, not junk at all...of course, you're upscaling to 1080p when you watch them. Some have performed better in that regard than others...I just naturally wish they had been Blu-ray to begin with.

Just discovered Nicholas and Alexandra is being released in February 2013 through Twilight Time! One of my favorite films and I've been waiting a long time for this film to reach blu-ray. Can hardly wait!

The more I see and hear about these two films (Flint) the more I get excited about seeing them. That quote above is classic. It sort of reminds me of those "Most Interesting Man in the World" Dos Equis beer commercials. I'm also a fan of the French oss 117 films with Jean Dujardin - I wonder if the Flint films had any influence on these as well. Can't wait, must resist looking for DVD . . . or youtube clips.

Just finished watching The Big Heat on TCM (although I missed a 15 minute chunk or so). It was the first time I saw it. Now I understand where all the praise for this movie is coming from.

So, any recommendations for The Blue Lagoon? Cover is great, and I love Brooke Shields (sue me). But from the clips I've seen on youtube it looks pretty cheesy, with atrocious acting.

On the subject of Brooke Shields, I'm wondering what the chances of a Pretty Baby release are? Not from TT obviously, but anyone. Criterion seem good contenders since they have a huge Louis Malle catalogue. Though the controversy around the film seems to overshadow the fact it's part of his oeuvre.

According to wikipedia, the DVD is zoomed and cropped to obscure the underage nudity. Which I guess is good intentioned, but I feel director's original vision trumps even this aspect of censorship. It'd be interesting to see if it does get released, if it'll be an unaltered cut.

TCM has the following scheduled for this month:

In Like Flint - 11/16 - 12:30 PM EST
Bonjour Tristesse - 11/20 - 4:00 PM EST
The Big Heat - 11/28 - 2:45 PM EST

I'll watch these first before I commit to buying the BDs as they are a bit pricey for me to blind buy.

I don't know how you'll feel if you see it now.
But i saw it as a kid and I LOVE this film.
It's totally classic.
It may look cheesy, but the magnificent landscapes and the music did it for me..

By the way:
Does anyone know where can i see a trailer for Beloved Infidel?
I can't find anything on the net.

Thank you very much.
I wonder if many recommend this.
I love classic movies and Deborah Kerr, but i see it's not highly rated at imdb.
