Quite liked Runaway Train, great believable action and the character mix was interesting enough to hold attention.

I saw it off Arrow’s blu ray which was fabulous, considering it was an older MGM scan, but the TT should look pretty similar since it’s the same master.

Eric Bogosian stars in writer-director Oliver Stone’s adaptation of his play, Talk Radio (1988), as a venomous radio talk show host whose reckless, relentless stream of abuse and sarcasm both titillates and infuriates. Parading his own “honesty,” Bogosian’s shock jock grows increasingly bitter, his outrageous cynicism both an emblem of his self-loathing and a temptation to his more disturbed listeners.

Writer-director Frank Tashlin’s satire on advertising, Hollywood, pop culture, and just about everything else he can think of, Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (1957) stars Tony Randall as the echt ad man, loving and hating his profession in equal measure. His biggest challenge comes when, soliciting an endorsement for Stay-Put Lipstick, he lands a big star – Jayne Mansfield’s hilarious Rita Marlowe – in more ways than one. Fantastically subversive, this candy-colored bitter pill was allegedly a powerful influence on none other than Jean-Luc Godard.

Special Features: Isolated Music Track / Audio Commentary with Film Historian Dana Polan / Fox Movietone Newsreels / Original Theatrical Trailer
Directed by Frank Tashlin, who began his career directing Looney Tunes shorts before moving on to feature films in the 1950s. Among his best known films are several Jerry Lewis' comedies (Rock-a-Bye Baby, The Geisha Boy, Cinderfella) and pairings of Lewis and Dean Martin (Hollywood or Bust, Artists and Models). Other films he directed include Son of Paleface, Susan Slept Here, The Girl Can't Help It, and The Lieutenant Wore Skirts.

Starring:

Tony Randall (The Odd Couple TV series, Pillow Talk, Let's Make Love, Lover Come Back, Send Me No Flowers, No Down Payment)

Jayne Mansfield (The Wayward Bus, It Takes a Thief, The Girl Can't Help It, Playgirl After Dark)

There's actually a pretty big technical glitch on TT's Runaway Train. Not sure if it's present on the Arrow though.

The great Stanley Donen directs Peter Cook and Dudley Moore in Bedazzled (1967), a Faustian tale about a Wimpy bar burger-flipper (Dudley Moore) so hopelessly in love with a waitress (Eleanor Bron) that he sells his soul to the devil (Cook) in exchange for seven wishes. All, of course, goes hilariously wrong, up to and including the brief appearance of a beauteous Raquel Welch as the very incarnation of Lust.

J.M. Barrie’s evergreen tale of an impeccably correct English butler (Kenneth More) suddenly forced to take charge when he and his helpless aristo employers are stranded on a desert island, The Admirable Crichton (1957) is amusingly directed by Lewis Gilbert (later of Bond film fame) and gorgeously photographed in Technicolor by Wilkie Cooper. More is joined by Cecil Parker as the stuffy Lord Loam, Sally Ann Howes as his snooty daughter, and Diane Cilento as the adorably warm-hearted maid, Tweeny.
Directed by Lewis Gilbert (Alfie, The Spy Who Loved Me, You Only Live Twice, Moonraker, Damn the Defiant!, Sink the Bismarck!)

Cinematography by Wilkie Cooper (Jason and the Argonauts, Mysterious Island, First Men in the Moon, One Million Years B.C., The 3 Worlds of Gulliver, The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad)

NOTE: The Admirable Crichton (1957), is the original U.K. title; based on a play of the same name by J.M. Barrie, it is about an Edwardian-era English aristocrat, his family, and servants who are all shipwrecked on a desert island where survival makes the class system meaningless. It was released in the USA under the title Paradise Lagoon. Supposedly the title was changed in the U.S. because the distributors feared if they used the original title people would think the movie was about a naval officer....lol.

Around the 25 minute mark when Jon Voight and Eric Roberts are entering the sewer there's an odd pixelation glitch. I've actually been trying to find out if it's on the Arrow for a while.

Yeah, will definitely be getting this. It should look amazing. Hopefully the next Jayne Mansfield film we get on blu will be The Girl Can't Help It. Getting to see Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent perform in HD will be a bonus in and of itself.....

Getting Bedazzled too. Jayne and Raquel in the same month makes me happy...

Isn't February when TT holds a sale on their MGM titles or is that over now that their licensing deal ended?

I'd assume that it would still happen despite their deal ending. In '17 they had it in March and last year was February. Personally, I'm hoping for a select title sale in hope some late '18 releases are included.

The Bedazzled booklet cover reminds me of TT's front cover for the sold out Bell, Book, and Candle release.

Wow, I step away from this thread for a couple weeks and couldn't believe what happened in the mean time. I'm shocked to read the news of Nick Redman's passing. He was quite young. I really appreciated the passion he brought to his releases and to helping rediscover forgotten classics. I've certainly gotten to know a lot of great movies over the years thanks to this label. Thanks to everyone for sharing their interactions they had with Nick behind the scenes of this thread.

We just finally watched our TT disc of Runaway Train a few weeks ago. I didn't recall any pixellation issues. So I just popped it in again and rewatched the whole scene from the moment they lift up the manhole cover until they exit the sewers. Still didn't see any pixellation. There's not a lot of light in those scenes, with most of it coming from flashlight, and some things are in soft focus because they're in the background and the camera is focused on the immediate foreground to catch the faces well when the light hits them. But I didn't see anything unusual.

As for the movie, it's good but flawed. The action scenes are fantastic -- you really feel like you're on a speeding train. I really liked a lot of the setup, from the prison, to the escape, to the Alaskan (really Montanan) wilderness, to the speeding train. Certain scenes have intense dramatic tension just built up from personality and the arc of development for the two main leads is pretty impressive.

But then other scenes feel clunky. I felt like Jon Voight hammed it up too much in certain scenes and his accent floated all over the place -- I take it was supposed to be NYC or Boston, but it didn't really sound like either. Rebecca deMornay's character just appears and then doesn't have much to do. And I found the warden's obsession with Voight to be underdeveloped.

It's one of the better Golan-Globus Films productions, a company that put out lots of 80's schlock, but also lots of great 80's grit. I'd certainly recommend it as worth watching, and there are some scenes that will certainly remain in your memory.
