Interesting...I think Paper Chase would fall under the shout select line or maybe even Criterion. Kino has been stepping up their game a bit lately too...

If Shout would release something like The Glenn Miller Story, I don't see why something like this wouldn't fit in their Shout Select line.

Since Kino doesn't have an active Fox deal (that we know of) and it feels a little below Criterion quality, I'd bet Shout.

Unless Kino quietly started a new Fox deal, Shout seems like the safest bet.

Well that's a surprise. I'm ultimately fine with what happened with the schedule since I'm far more interested in Three Coins in the Fountain than The Paper Chase, and since we know it's with another label it's not an outright cancellation. Especially great since the Oscar-winning cinematography is getting a 4K restoration.
By the way, have Screen Archives' international shipping fees increased since last year?

However, we are pleased to substitute a comparably desired gem -- and double Academy Award winner -- THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN (1954), from a 2016 4K restoration. It joins MELVIN AND HOWARD (1980), THE SNAKE PIT (1948) and STAGECOACH (1966) on the April 16 hi-def Blu-ray Release Roster. Thanks for understanding.
With The Snake Pit (also announced by Indicator) and Three Coins in the Fountain, we're getting close to all of the Fox Studio Classics DVDs being available on Blu-ray. Down to only 7 (out of 41) left.

From memory I knew In Old Chicago, the Man in the Gray Flannel Suit, Orchestra Wives, and the Rains Came. Had to look up the other three: Alexander's Ragtime Band, Anna and the King of Siam, and Return to Peyton Place

How long does it usually take for Screen Archive to ship? This Twilight Time Sale is the first time I’ve ordered from them.

Usually, they'll ship the day after your order or sometimes on the same day but it all depends on the sale. The only time I had a long delay was during the Fox sale last year; I had ordered the first day but it took a whole week for it to ship I had sent an email and they replied that they had a lot or orders (I also assume it could of been due to me ordering "Hush...Hush Sweet Charlotte" since the stock was dangerously low at that point).

In all my orders it has been 3-5 days, but then I live in Maryland so my experience may be different than yours. I prefer SAE but you may prefer ordering direct from TT. Generally, I receive my films from TT in the same time phase.

You don't get fixated on the negative aspects of movies at all like normal folks (like me) do. I mean, you mention them but don't recreate on them.
Believe me, I do when the film is overwhelmingly bad or simply doesn't work on almost any level (check out my user reviews here for Dad's Army or Tom Cruise's the Mummy), but it's a question of balance: a lot of films have problems but can have enough going for them to swing in their favor (or, vice versa, have more going against them than for them), while others can suffer from the expectations you bring to them (Untamed and Captain from Castile being prime examples of films where the disappointment of dashed initial expectations can outweigh the positives on a first viewing and need a second look for their qualities to come through). Sometimes failures can be more fascinating in their own way than successes for what they attempt to do and sometimes there are reasons for a film misfiring that need to be taken into account without making the end result seem any better (again, see my review for Dead Pigeon on Beethoven Street). And sometimes a film is just plain bad on so many levels it deserves no quarter (Bad Man's River)...

I wonder if you work in the business or are a commercial because you do know how to inspire real interest in movies through heartfelt passion
I'm what the Brits term a poacher turned gamekeeper: I used to edit a movie magazine that leaned heavily to older films before working in various sides of the industry in the States and Europe in various coalface and galley slave positions (the kind of jobs that if there were an Oscar for, no-one would complain if they were given out in the commercial break), writing a few books that people tend to read or buy by accident rather than design along the way. These days I largely work as an outside consultant, though with the massive decline in the market and the budgets (and people left at the studios who know or even care about back-catalogue) not nearly as often as I used to. My career trajectory can be best summed up by this scene:

Quote:
I would love to read more from you, do you have a blog or only post in this forum? I dont need only movies to survive, I also enjoy discovering people talk about what they like from more obscure films and you seem to know so many!
No blog: I'm pretty much an analogue/physical media guy/Luddite, so I've never really worked out how or why to go about that. I'm happier with print media, but with the internet creating a world where no-one pays you to write about 'old' movies anymore and no real advertising market to support starting another magazine these days I review more just to keep my hand in (though much of what I review never ends up being posted anywhere because there's no real outlet anymore).

If I ever find a home for them I'll try to let you know, but in the meantime this link should take you to my reviews here (I usually only post here for films that haven't been reviewed on the site proper):

I've always been told I have "low standards" with movies but it's more about not letting flaws ruin an overall entertaining experience. If it's not entertaining at all then I'll be the first to say I didn't like it.

My wife tells me I have the worst taste in movies of anyone she has ever known
(the last time she told me this was when I brought home a DVD of Master of the Flying Guillotine). To add insult to injury, she's telling me this while she is watching those Lifetime murder movies....

Generally, I'm able to give many films the benefit of the doubt since there are many guilty pleasure, cheesy, and so bad they're good films I like, unless there Mortal Kombat: Annihilation which is pretty much the worse movie ever

Spoken like a man who's never seen Robbie Moffat's The Winter Warrior:

Still the only screening I've ever been to where the entire audience walked out in the first five minutes. You can pick up the DVD for 29p plus post on Amazon.co.uk, and believe me, they're massively overcharging.

Sounds like you've never seen The Champ starring Jon Voight. In 62 years, it's the only movie I've walked out on....
