Low quantity update between Twilight Time & SAE .

Sold out now are : Eddy Dutchin & 9 to 5 .

Only 14 x Hawaii & 44 x Hardcore remain as well as

under 100 remain of Beloved Infidel & Pony Soldier remain now all before being sold out .

Eddy Dutchin may get replaced for the 7 for $70 offer soon as well as others from that offer once sold out

I would guess a Twilight Time sale should be happening soon

The Twilight Time 7 for $70 bundle still exists, and today I found seven more movies to buy from it—The Little House, The Fortune, Alexander the Great, Absolute Beginners, Theater of Blood, The Vanishing, and Count Yorga. I've only seen one of these movies before, the surreal musical Absolute Beginners, which I watched in college 33 years ago. Wow, time passes....Like some of you I struggle sometimes with my blu-ray collection in terms of space, and also in terms of realistically which movies I'll actually watch again. But for me the deciding thing for these Twilight Time releases are the booklet essays by Julie Kirgo. I enjoy reading these essays, and for me they are maybe worth about ten bucks each by themselves. Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching all seven of these movies sometime in the next year or so.

How do you get to it? The link used to be in the "news" section of the Screen Archives website but I don't see it there anymore.

Terrible transfer on the TALK RADIO release. Harsh sharpening and noise. Typical dated Universal master. Wait for a sale. Not worth $30. A shame and big disappointment.

It is pretty bad. The flashback scenes are the absolute worst. Unfortunately the video issues weren't as glaring as how poorly the film aged in my opinion.

Terrible? I think it looks fine, it's a good looking older transfer with grain and no DVNR or crushed blacks.

Looks like crap on a 60” screen. The transfer has been sharpened to death.

Only 7 x Hawaii & 39 x Hardcore remain for each at SAE before being 100 % sold out

Less than 100 each of Pony Soldier & Beloved Infidel

My guess is Hawaii will sell out tonight & Hardcore likely by tomorrow - very early next week .

Eddy Dutchin should be getting a replacement for the 7 for $70 same once Pony Soldier , Beloved Infidel , Royal Flash & Fortune as they sell out .

I have Hawaii & Hardcore myself thought I would give this info for anyone not owning these before they are gone .

Finally watched my TT blu-ray of The Believers with Martin Sheen. Somehow I missed this movie back in 1987, in part because I don't see horror movies that often, and in part because it didn't connect at the box office. Anyway, Sheen as usual brings some gravitas and believability to this bizarre horror movie. John Schlesinger, the director of The Believers, also directed the horror movie Day of the Locust in the mid 1970s....

I watched it on a 60" screen. The flashback scenes look worse, but they seem to have been short with some weird filter.

Incidentally, I'd love a Day of the Locust BD.

Is that the one with Dustin Hoffman as the graduate student?

Broken Lance has become one of my favorite Westerns of the 1950s. For me, Broken Lance has rewatch value, and this is a solid package from Twilight Time featuring Kirgo's booklet essay, audio commentary, plus very good picture quality, CinemaScope, Technicolor, and stereo sound. And what a cast—Spencer Tracy, Richard Widmark, Robert Wagner, Katy Jurado, E.G Marshall, Earl Holliman, Jean Peters, etc. Nice score by Leigh Harline, and excellent widescreen cinematography by Joseph McDonald. Broken Lance was somewhat ahead of its time in showing two mixed-race marriages. Edward Dmytryk provides solid direction with some nice action, as well as thought-provoking drama in this King Lear-inspired story. Broken Lance was a hit, earning almost $4 million worldwide on its $1.7 million dollar production budget. Looks as good today as opening night back in 1954.

Check out Garden of Evil, with Widmark playing a much more likable character, this time as support to Cooper. The Technicolor/Cinemascope widescreen photography of the Mexican locations is even more sumptuous and it boasts the distinction of featuring the only score that the great Henry Mancini composed for a western.

Loving these TT releases of Widmark westerns; Warlock is highly-anticipated for me and I'm hoping that the awesome The Last Wagon is a future announcement.
