Maybe it's just a personal style choice, like the way e e cummings used lower case spelling in his poetry or the way Cormac McCarthy doesn't use quotation marks.

There's a gaping chasm between the names mentioned and the poster in question...

Yeah, me too.

I think I only missed out on one of the autographed editions. I think it was an Oliver Stone movie. I have Salvador and U Turn, but didn't he do another autographed title?

Too bad Wild in the Country and 10 North Frederick are 2.0 sound, should be 4.0.

2.0 sound can contain surround activity through decoding.

Is anyone having playback problems with their Twilight Time Blu-ray movies?

I have 16 TT Blu-ray movies, most about 1-2 years old and did not have playback problems when I first watched them, but some have just recently developed playback problems. Here the four titles with playback problems:

1. IN LIKE FLINT---always freezes at 1 hour, 18 minutes elapsed time (when Jean Hale says, "Cosmonauts?...Ballerinas?").

2. FIRST MEN ON THE MOON---menu does not work ("Play Movie" does not work, etc.). Sometimes when the disc is inserted into the player there is only a black screen (not even a copyright warning, etc.).

3. EXPERIMENT IN TERROR---it started up slow, but played twice. Minutes later, it would not play at all (Blu-ray player says, "Cannot operate this disk").

4. NIGHT OF THE GENERAL---black screen only (not even a copyright warning, etc).

I'm in the process of watching all of my TT collection from start to finish to check for problems.

No, I have never had any problems with any of my Twilight Time releases. Have you tried any of these on a different player?

What’s your player? I own 55 TT releases, including “In Like Flint”, and never had a playback problem.

I assume that they will be since if it was a mono track TT would label 1.0 (even though their mono tracks have been in a 2.0 container for years).

I have a Sony BDV-E500W blu-ray player which had its last update in 2011.

So if the TT movies aren't the problem, maybe the BDV-E500W is dying or maybe it has a dirty lens---but if the lens is dirty, why does it affect only a few movies, instead of every movie that it plays?

****I don't want to hijack the TT thread, so the link to if the blu-ray player is the problem is at this link.

Just checked The Night Of The Generals on 3 different brands, including a Samsung, LG, and Sony BDV-E570, and they all played it without problems.

Do you have access to another player that you can check these discs on though? If they play fine on a different player, then you can at least narrow down what the problem is.

BAHEIDSTU:

Unfortunately I don't have easy access to another bluray player.

I played three more movies with the following results:

1. MYSTERIOUS LAND (Twilight Time)---no problem.
2. THE BLUE MAX (Twilight Time)---froze at 1 hour, 24 minutes elapsed time (where George Peppard and the butler are walking towards Ursula Andress' bedroom).
3. THE NAKED GUN (Paramount)---no problem.

That's unfortunate, but I'd be more likely to blame the player than the discs themselves. A fail rate that prolific is very unusual and it may be coincidence that you're noticing it with Twilight Time discs, particularly when it's not something widespread noticed by other collectors. It might just be time to buy a new player, particularly if the one you have is at least 8 years old.

In Like Flint and Night of the General played fine on all four of my players.

Little off topic I guess, but it always did depress me that I only discovered TT after the Flint movies went OOP. Oh well, hopefully one day a UK label re-releases them.

Problematic: all previous UK home video releases of Our Man Flint have cut the do-it-yourself defibrilator scene to stop kids trying it at home. And even if the cuts were waived, Fox aren't licensing to any labels in the UK either anymore, and the existing licenses aren't being renewed - hence Eureka doing their now-or-never Fuller at Fox set in the tight window before their license expires.
