There's only 2000 Fullers BUT they've said if it sells out fast enough Bamboo will get a solo release if there's enough time left on the license to be viable. Though I don't know if A Fuller Life will get a solo release. Might be safest to preorder from an e-tailer that only charges on dispatch since it's a late October release - a few UK sets like Oldboy have sold out before release date lately.
Germany is the best hope for Flint IF they've already licensed it, but it would almost certainly be much lighter on extras (TT included some that weren't even on the Flint DVD boxed set). |

No idea on the licence, but they did say they'd lost time trying to negotiate for China Gate (no longer held by Fox but originally planned for the set). Judging from Signal 1 having to drop The Gunfighter because, after taking a hit when HMV went into liquidation last January, it's no longer viable in their timeframe and budget I'm guessing many Fox contracts that in the past would have been extended because Fox took their time providing the delivery material and masters are now in their last 18-24 months.
I know where you're coming from on the money side: up until June I was a model of self-control cutting down on purchases and trying to limit myself to matching my spending to what I sold on ebay, but a tax rebate coincided with last month's rash of sales and I got carried away. Now I'm trying to get back into the self-control habit, but I'll probably cave on the Fuller set before the week is out because I fear we may be getting nearer to the endgame for physical releases of Fox back-catalog titles. |

I also am scared on the future of Fox back-catalog titles and that we probably are looking at seeing many of them on TV only. I'll probably try to get the Fuller set in the next couple months but I'm not 100% certain either. |

Eureka stated that "A Fuller Life" would be exclusive to the box set.

I have to an extent picking up A Tree in Brooklyn and Bernadette which I need to get around too. Just really need to get the Fuller box, The Flight of the Phoenix Man Hunt, the renaming Fox noirs, and there’s probably a few In forgetting and I’ll be happy as I can be. Typing from my phone so this has some mistakes.

Same boat. I would pick these up in a heart beat if available now. Fond memories of watching them on our local independent channel on Saturday afternoons when I was growing up.

One of the more unsung tragedies of the movies is that Michael Winner didn't direct more westerns. Lawman and Chato's Land are both excellent genre entries from the early 70s and arguably evince his skills better than anything else he did.

I'd be loath to get rid of my TT House of Bamboo since Nick Redman sourced it for me personally shortly before he died. It's a disc to treasure for many reasons.

I'm on the younger side of many of you vets in here and a large bulk of the TT announcements are my first introduction to the films. It has been a fun 5 years of discovering a lot of great films via blind buys and watching them for the first time in HD. I'm always grateful for the many recommendations that are thrown around; there's a lot more hits than misses. I hope TT is able to grieve properly and continue to carry on.

Aclea, do you have any idea what that short film extra is on the OUR MAN FLINT DVD/Blu that is listed as the “original trailer?” It’s certainly not the trailer, is it?

Ordered my copy of TT's "The President's Lady" from SAE on 7 August, and low and behold, it showed up in the mail on Monday, the 12th! I was under the impression that it was not released until the 20th. What a surprise. As usual per TT, the picture is outstanding in B & W and academy standard. Sure hope some additional 20th Century Fox titles continue to be available from TT, unless the Disney purchase ends that source for them. Would love to see "The Black Rose" slip in under the wire! A great Tyrone Power adventure.

At the risk of being Captain Obvious, A FULLER LIFE also appears on the Criterion release of FORTY GUNS.

It's an exhibitor's showreel put together to get theater chains and managers to book the picture. Studios still regularly present them to the National Association of Theater Owners and a few from the 60s and 70s (some introduced by the producers) have turned up on disc, like Truck Turner, The Chairman, The Towering Inferno, Lost Horizon, The Sunshine Boys, Fantastic Voyage, The Story of Ruth, Close Encounters, Planet of the Apes and (on the German blu only) The Boys from Brazil. Quite a few turned up on Super 8mm as well - Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Capricorn One, the 1979 Dracula - because they acted as mini-cutdowns, though they usually omitted the end.

The best extras were Jerry Goldsmith's excellent scores in stereo on a separate music only track. I bought In Like Flint, as it's one of my favourite Goldsmith scores, & made my own soundtrack CD, & just as I was about to buy Our Man Flint...it went oop. It's funny how some TT releases show up in many countries, & some don't.

CINEMASCOPE:
One of the main reasons I bought TT's IN LIKE FLINT is because of the isolated soundtrack. I have both the Varese Sarabande and Intrada soundtracks, and both don't have the complete version of the opening track "Where the Bad Guys Are Girls" which is my favorite track. If I ever get my IN LIKE FLINT bluray to play again, I might want to record the isolated soundtrack. How did your record your isolated soundtrack? |
