Losing a specialty label like them isn't good for any of us.

It looks like there isn't much left I need, even with the newer price drop today, but I'm sure they still need all the business they can get. Does anyone have any opinions on:

THE KEYS OF THE KINGDOM
RETURN OF FRANK JAMES
TRUE STORY OF JESSE JAMES
SAYONARA

Those four kind of stood out for me, but they would all be blind buys and reviews I checked weren't overly enthusiastic. Well, does anyone have any quick thoughts to share about those titles?
Sayonara is a rock-solid film. Location shooting in Japan in the middle 1950's. Nice technicolor cinematography. The greatest actor who ever lived, 4 Oscars (not for Brando, though) and Red Buttons bringing it in a dramatic role. One of the Oscars was his.

A very good film. How's that for enthusiasm? I think you'll be pleased with it.

Anne of the Thousand Days is a Universal title though, not Fox.

Thumbs up

Put in (probably) my final order at Twilight Time:

[Show spoiler]

They were a great label and will be missed. They put out so many wonderful titles, I especially treasure their Fox Cinemsacope releases.

Some of my favourites!

And the ones that got away...

No. I didn’t know you needed that title in the cart for the code to work. Oh well.

Understandable, though you're still likely to pay more down the road in total in the off chance another edition comes along. Truly though this is the end of the road for all Fox classics unless Disney establishes some sort of MOD department like Warner Archive. Which, uh, hah...

That's seriously Something to think about

Well, I just went crazy and ordered 16 titles---ended up qualifying for the (very slight) savings of 32¢ each on 14 of these titles. Didn't plan to order so many, but hey, if not now, when? This isn't counting two titles I was going to get, but that sold out in-between the time I filled out my order and when I paid for it. Looks like a bunch of these will be going fast; I daresay a lot of the traffic on this sale is due to resellers....

That's not the case: without Brian Jamieson there never would have been a TT, something often overlooked because he shuns the spotlight and because Nick was the public face of the company. As Brian notes in his email, it wasn't just a two-man band either.

However, both men had decided to close the company this year some time ago - they originally planned it to last ten years and review it if it lasted nine. Slower sales, higher licensing fees and the shrinking market were factors, as well as the loss of Fox. Nick's untimely passing simply accelerated the process.

Correction noted. I guess their export shipping is partially subsidized by their import fees or else they have some method to allow interational shipping to be substantially less outgoing than incoming.

Probably similar holds for Germany though as best as I can Google it's still partially run (or owned) by the Government

Okay, so I went a little nuts. And the thing is, I still have another dozen titles in my cart at SAE. Thank God both websites accept PayPal Credit ... this first order was, well, pricey, but I have six months interest-free (until the end of November) to pay it off. I'll keep tabs on the inventory situation at SAE and let that order go at the end of the month so that I will have until the end of December to pay it off. I'm sad to see Twilight Time go. I'm particularly sad that they weren't able to release Otto Preminger's Fallen Angel, which got stuck in the pipeline, but I'm beyond grateful that so many other films on my wish list like Dragonwyck, The Egyptian, Julia, Leave Her to Heaven, The Member of the Wedding, 9 to 5, Swamp Water, and so many others made it onto blu-ray. I will forever be grateful.

If you are region free, you may want to double check some of the titles in your cart as I almost bought Hell or High Water, forgetting that it was in the Indicator Fuller set. I almost made the same mistake with The Whole Town’s Talking and The Last Hurrah from the Ford at Columbia Indicator set.

It's always sad to see a label cease to exist, even if it's one i rarely every buy from. It just means that there will now be 1 less label that will be releasing films on blu ray, and a lot of films not getting a release.

Placed an order for the following:

La Bambola Di Satana
10 Rillington Place
From Noon till Three
Cinderella Liberty
Short Night of Glass Dolls
Whirlpool

I have not ordered from TT in probably 2 or more years, so i don't really remember, but has the cheapest shipping option always been $12? Sheesh, but placed my order anyways.

Oh wow I just checked the back of my blu and you're correct. Boy do I feel sheepish

Universal actually has a very active MOD department so that raises the chances of a re-release significantly.

I'll be curious to know what sells out quickly, if someone posts the information. From what I can tell, at least 10 titles have disappeared from the sale list, in the hour since I filled out my order.
