I’ve had the pleasure to review many releases from Twilight Time over the years. The label always put an enormous amount of love and care in to each and every title. Some of their releases have reference grade transfers with generous bitrates and high quality lossless sound presentations that represent the best of the format. I cherish their hard work and dedication to Blu-ray and home media. A great company and one that will never be left forgotten.

Adiós Twilight Time. It was a good ride while it lasted.

My final TT order:

Snake in the Eagle's Shadow / Drunken Master went OOS while it was in my cart.

That brings my TT collection up to a modest 56.

Just doing a brief look back over TT's releases, their September 2015 lineup is one of my personal favorites. Three fantastic films in "Fat City", "Emperor of the North" and "At Close Range", the ultra-sleazy Bronson classic "10 to Midnight", and Neil Jordan's underrated debut "Angel". That month is emblematic of the quality and variety of films they have released.

In a way, it's sad to see providers of otherwise not-released-on-BD titles going.
On the other hand, I grew tired of their price/content ratio, even more so when shipping rates on both SAE and TT increased madly. I'm glad so many movies have been made accessible, many through lavish restorations, but I also know that pretty much every label that released these movies elsewhere provided better content-for-money packages.

It's no wonder this model proved not to be sustainable over time, and it's interesting their key reasons for closure isn't a "crashing market" (or similar things).

Hopefully, most of these movies are going to be re-released somewhere (as it has already been the case for some of them), but I'm worried about all these new FOX restorations that might be stuck because of the mouse now.

Oh no :-(

I feared this would happen and while I do not own many TT-titles I love the ones that I do own.

But I guess it is suitable to say in this case "It is better to have loved and lost, then never having loved at all", so a big Hurray for Twilight time, as a lover of physical media I will miss them.

Also a big shout out to Oildude for moderating the thread, I have followed it for a long time.

TT closing shop reminded me of those just absolutely godawful videos they play at high school graduation ceremonies with quotes like "Don't be sad that it's over, be glad that it happened" and songs like Green Day's "Good Riddance" and Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You" (those were the songs when I graduated 15 years ago, I'm sure they've modified it to include something like "Fight Song" to pick up the mood a bit).

I stopped buying Twilight Time Blu-rays over a year ago but still can't help feel sad about them shutting down. I guess the writing was on the wall after Nick Redman passed. I have a healthy TT collection and cherish all of them.

I'd make an order of a dozen blu-rays despite the shipping costs to the UK. But I feel the package is sure to be stopped by Customs, it'll then be held up for a couple weeks and then I'd be hit with a huge import charge. At that point, if I say "return to sender", I doubt I'd get a refund.

I ordered 8 films to the U.K. I’d stopped buying Twilight Time releases a couple of years ago when SAE started to write the correct value on its envelopes and it became too expensive to import.

But this sale is worth the risk. I’m expecting a customs charge too.

Sadly yes, it's official. Such a shame yet another great source of good Blu Ray discs disappears.

Was making a big order from VS last month and at the last minute decided to do one from TT as it looked like their time was coming to a close. Just received an order with 16 releases this morning after getting the email that they were closing down last night. Think I'll order a couple more come payday to plug a few gaps but looking at what is still available and there's not a whole lot I really want or can't get elsewhere. It's a shame to see them go even if their customer support was amongst the worst that I ever had to deal with when a package went missing a few years ago.

Yes, I stopped about a year ago for the same reason you mention. However, it's still sad to see Twilight Time disappear as they did release some great titles over the years. Plus the fact they were region-free was a huge bonus for me as I'm probably the only member on this forum who still doesn't have a multi-region player.

If they were customs friendly then I would have bought a whole lot more stuff from them. A lot of time I would fill a basket and then see the cost + the incredibly high international postage and then factor in the customs hit and just opt to buy some more VS stuff instead.

Not many retailers are customs friendly anymore. Customs are seizing packages and evaluating their true cost and have been sending out warnings to any retailers that devaluate.

Twilight Time Movies gave customers a break for years until customs caught on to them.

The Eureka Masters of Cinema release of Drunken Master is great & has the most extras. though.

The only 2 companies that I have got stung with by customs has been TT and one time with WOWHD. With the TT order that I got today, I factored in customs when making the order and if the titles I want are still in stock at the end of the month I'm going to pick up a couple more as a final hurrah.

Oh wow really? I did love how TT never wrote the value, or devalued them.
Then again I feel that if the origin country retailer does not detract VAT, I as customer pay VAT twice, so if VAT is due, in my eyes, it should be in the country that sold the item, not where I live.
I just made a huge order with TT, where the shipping is literally half the amount of the discs, and I know that it will be probably be opened and valued.
For this one, I have no problem providing them with the receipt.

So so sad that Twilight Time are gone. They were a fantastic presence on the market.
