If you watch The Tall Men, let me know if you notice which unexpected part of Jane Russell's anatomy Raoul Walsh clearly has a thing for.

Will do. I wasn't initially interested in this one...until I saw the screenshots

I know that some of the stars didn't actually go there, but the snow scenes were shot in Sun Valley, Idaho, which is where one of my favorite movies, The Wild North, was filmed.

In short, the movie looked worth it for the location scenery alone, and I'm a big Ryan fan. Russell is always an altogether different feast for the eyes

The snow scenes in the first half hour look terrific, and Ryan's last line about Gable is one of my favorites.

Well shoot, now you're tempting me.

This was one of the TT titles that this site doesn't provide any review or screenshots, and in my multiple passes browsing TT's complete catalog, this title didn't stand out to me to research further.

Looking it up on DVDBeaver now though, it does seem that the transfer could have been better. Some comments on other forums about the cropping and image squeezing... not to mention the black crush.

Still waiting for my order sent on the 4th of March...... admittedly I am in Australia and obviously there are a few issues.....understatement but I am starting to get a bit worried that I won't see it and even more worried I will have to deal with the "customer service" guy, Randy again in order to beg for a refund (Randy has provided me thus far with the worst customer service I have ever had)

If anyone has a spare Manhattan Murder Mystery or Gloria (and would ship them to good old Canada), PM me please!

It's an older master, but that also means none of Fox's occasional pesky revisionism with the color scheme.

So you're upset that they're...shipping things out as quickly as possible?

Okay then.

Are you sure it's an older master? If it was the same master as something like the Fox DVD then it would have similar grading and/or framing. To my eyes, it looks like a newer scan but probably didn't use the same colorist that handled a lot of these CinemaScope remasters.

I was gonna watch my new disc of A Man Called Peter, but then I got sidetracked by Pickup on South Street... and now A Night at the Opera. Maybe tomorrow?

It looks like the same master used for the German Bluray back in 2012, which was a newer master than the one used for the DVD and predates the rampant color revisionism, but certainly isn't a recent 4K restoration if that's what people are expecting.

Default So yeah they're busy.

Just thought I'd note that some people are mentioning delivery of orders from 5/10, numbered 71xxx.

My order of 5/11 is numbered 76xxx.

Assuming no unusual changes in numbering, that's... 5000 orders in a day.

I see. I've gotten to the point that when I read "old master" or "high definition remaster" as code-word for a DVD-era master. "The Tall Men" is probably one of Fox's old "4K scan, but 2K workflow" masters and might not of been a Cineric-sourced (where the colorist that handled a lot of these CinemaScope remasters worked at) remasters. A shame that whoever oversaw "The Tall Men" wasn't put more in charge of their CinemaScope remasters.
